Not that I approve of his behaviour, but before we all get high and mighty here we have all gone home after one too many. Those that say they haven't are being dishonest.
You'll get very few to admit that in here and the ones who freak and say "no way" probably don't drink or have no life outside of mommy's basement.
As a pub owner I can safely say drinking and driving is not a rare occurrence, I have personally paid for some patrons to get home safe but I or the staff can't catch them all. fact is a big percentage of people make bad decisions under the influence of alcohol, the only way to stop drinking and driving is to ban alcohol or have a blow system in every car.

Living in a city with decent transit options after 12 am is a good start too.

so you own a bar for idiots? I go out quite often but I don't drink and drive, we always make sure that someone doesn't drink or that we'll have a ride one way or another. When I was young I lost someone close to me because of a drunk driver and my sister was almost killed by a drunk driver too. I would never want to do that to anyone. If you're the kind of person who can't think of what you might do to someone and their family by drinking and driving you're either a complete moron who shouldn't be trusted in society or you drink so heavily that you need help.
Sure a big percentage of people make bad choices but majority don't and lumping the ones who aren't idiots into a group that don't have a life is beyond ignorant. Saying crap like that tries to glorify bad choices but I guess as someone who capitalizes off them, it's in your best interest.

Or truthful?
I have never ever driven after having "one too many". Simply never been an issue to plan ahead. It's ridiculous to fall back on the idea that people aren't being truthful or are nerdy shut ins. No, some of us just are capable of understanding the absolute idiocy of taking that risk and putting others at risk. if that offends people that some of us aren't morons, then so be it?

In a statement Sunday, Bourque said he accepted responsibility for his actions. He said, ''I am not happy about the situation I put myself into.''
Pleads not guility.....
What a piece of ####.
Turek and T@T, while I would agree that drinking and driving is not rare, I can safely say that anyone who does it is a piece of #### and many many many people have never had one too many and drove him.
Kind of unrelated but just out of curiousity if say 2 beers put you over the legal limit would 6 beers be 3 times the legal limit? Or can that not really be assumed? When you say 3 times the legal limit it sounds horrible but just trying to put it into perspective. Something you can actually kind of relate it too.

There's a lot of "one too many" being thrown around. I wonder how many people considering themselves DD after 1 or 2 or 3 drinks might actually end up over the limit if they were ever pulled over under such circumstances. What does one too many mean? We all know our own limits pretty well, but that doesn't mean the breathalyzer would agree.
Not saying any of it is OK. IMO, if you;re DD for a group, you shouldn't be drinking at all.
Really, legal limits are kind of ridiculous anyways. Should it just be a flat zero? Everyone's impairment levels are different, shouldn't we be erring on the side of caution?
8. BAC = .18-.25 = Drinkers are disoriented, confused, dizzy, and have exaggerated emotional states. Vision is disturbed, as is perception of color, form, motion, and dimensions.
Drinkers have increased pain threshold and lack of muscular coordination. Drinkers stagger or lose the ability to walk and have slurred speech. Apathy and lethargy are typical.
9. BAC = .25-.30 = Drinkers display general inertia, near total loss of motor functions, little response to stimuli, inability to stand or walk, vomiting, and incontinence. Drinkers may lose consciousness or fall into a stupor.

The legal limit in the US is 0.08%. Bourque was 0.249%.
0.249/0.08 = 3.1125.
Ray Bourque's BAC was 3x the legal limit.
Edit: Also, he fired up TBay with a locker room speech right before Game 7 in 2004, so he sucks anyway, even without the DUI.

I put in Ray Borque's weight 220lbs and rough time drinking probably 5 hours, then I put in 12 drinks. I get about half his reported BAC.
This isn't a case of having a second glass of wine with dinner. Dude was flat out drunk. No one should be unsure after downing a case of beer.
Hit a minivan too, a car that could have had kids in it. After what we just saw in Ontario I cannot believe anyone would defend this in any way. He should but probably won't get the book thrown at him.

Well, I guess according to you I have no life as I have never once felt the need to drive while intoxicated. When I do decide to drink, I always make sure to get a ride home or take a cab.
Pretty ignorant of you to state that the people who choose to be responsible and decide to not put their life or other lives at risk are just nerds who live in mommy's basement.
As someone who has lost a family member to a drunk driver, statements like yours really piss me off.

I was starting to feel a little shame for making my pregnant wife drive my drunken ass around the last 7 or 8 weekends in a row, but now I feel secure that I made the right decision... has saved a lot in cab fares as well.

First, assuming Bourque is still over 200, two beers is not going to get him over the legal limit. I mean even under the worst case scenarios (no food, chugging, liver issues).
Second, no you can't really assume that 6 beers is three times the limit of 2.
Finally, it's taking him a lot more than 6 drinks to get 0.249. It's actually an 'impressive' number to get to. Again, things like how much food you have and what not play huge roles, but if you use the average BAC calculator, you'll find that a 200 pound man has to chug a 12 pack in a half hour before he starts seeing those types of numbers...
