The French player should have been called for a foul for jumping all over the back of the Irish defender at midfield

Well you have to take that red there. Only way to stay in the game.

Those dives by the Irish are
1) really annoying
2) probably making it less likely that the ref gives them a penalty kick
3) making it even harder for them to score.

Well deserved win for France. The Irish lost all their underdog sympathy from me with all those dives.

They were out of gas at the end so diving for penalties or free kicks was pretty much all they had. I do like the arrogance of the ITV announcer saying France will probably play England next. Do the English ever learn?

The announcers other than Tyler and Smith in Paris have been awful

Hate his antics, fine, but he has been a difference maker, as he should.

He was pretty much invisible yesterday.

The Germans are the only ones so far taking care of busines... as they are wont to do. I am assuming their quarterfinal will be the de facto final, unless France has more to offer.

More of a casual soccer observer, but whenever I watch World/Euro Cups lately it just feels like Germany is head and shoulders above anyone else. I'll honestly be stunned if they don't win this tourney.

Its their style of play that makes them look so dominant. Their focus is a powerful and offensive midfield.

That being said, Germany probably are the best team at the tournament, and there are maybe 3 teams that have a good chance at beating them: Spain, France, and Italy.

Unfortunately for Germany, they will have to face one of them next, and if they win that match, likely France after that.
