News Update

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Speculation on a Bishop trade continues to swirl, but the Lightning could hold off on trade until Stamkos situation has been determined.

If that is the case, 2016 1st rounder likely not involved

John Shannon @JSportsnet
Is it Bishop or Elliott heading to Calgary? Told the Flames expect to leave Buffalo with a starting goalie.

Go with Elliott. Acquisition cost should be less and he's just as capable.

He's not nearly as good as Bishop.

Not looking at the acquisition cost, Bishop and MAF would be my preference....

.930 S% and a 2.07 GAA versus .926 S% and a 2.06 GAA. You're right, not nearly as good.

Bishop is horribly under-rated here.

have to wonder if STL would have any issues trading Elliott within the conference. Could come back to bite them.

In 20 less games, with a better defence and a more defensive system...

Elliott didn't even have capable starting goaltender numbers until joining the Blues and their stingy defensive system.

Definitely not sold on Elliott.

I bet you Ramo would be a .920 starter in STL.

Sounds like Calgary doing their best to close in on a goaltender #Flames

I could see an issue with trading in their own division, but worrying that the Flames would meet them in the conference finals and Elliot being the difference would be silly imo.

Sure, but unfortunately you have to include acquisition cost. If the rumors in the last week are true about goalie prices, then I have to admit, I was way out to lunch on what it would cost to get a good goalie via trade this summer. 2 weeks ago i figured a goalie like Fleury would not cost more than the 54th pick and a b prospect. I would have also thought Anderson could have been had for the 35th pick. Instead he was traded for a late first and a 2nnd round pick.

I think Treliving is leaking all this info so that Pittsburgh, Tampa and St. Louis all know they can't play hardball with Calgary

Ramo would have been such a better goalie if he could ever have figured out he's not in front of a soccer sized net.

I highly doubt that. The GM's of those teams are not stupid, they already realized that it was a buyers market for goalies going into the draft. If anybody is playing hardball its the GM's of the other teams.

Asking for our 6th overall for Fleury seems stupid to me.

Yes, because Tampa Bay is so loosey goosey in their defensive play as well. You know, they both gave up 201 goals against this past season. Pretty comparable.

Here's some interesting stats for you. In Bishop's four years in Tampa, 195 games played, he's had a .922 S% and a 2.24 GAA. In Elliott's five years in St. Louis, 180 games played, he's had a .925 S% and a 2.01 GAA.

Again, Elliott is terribly under-rated here.
