I've been wondering the same thing. The Habs aren't exactly loaded with depth on their blueline.
Markov is old.
Petry is a solid top 4, nothing more.
Emelin is a solid top 6.
Nathan Beaulieu still has room to grow as a player, but I think he tops out as a top 4 dman.
The free agent UFA pool is thinning out.
Their defensive prospects (and prospects as whole for that matter) seem very average.
How exactly is Montreal going to replace what Subban brings on the ice and in the community?

Maybe if they are willing to move on Subban, they may be willing to move on Price... If Subban is in play, maybe they are considering a rebuild
