In the spirit of all the candy being consumed tonight, I was wondering...do you floss, and how often? Is flossing really that important in the fight against the evil gingivitis?
I try to floss 3-4 times a week, but just never get into the routine. My dentist yells at me (more or less) every time I go because I should be flossing more (even though I can tell my gums aren't that bad...he's just trying to get as much $$$ from the insurance company as possible).

Only time I floss is when the nurse does it when I'm at the dentists for a cleaning. I have perfectly healthy teeth/gums too.

I only floss when I have something stuck in my teeth.
Too much of a bother, I don't have any trouble with my teeth as is.

Well, I just spent 6 hrs over the last 3 weeks in the Dentist chair getting my teeth cleaned and cavities filled. I always had really strong, clean teeth when I was a kid and figured I didn't need to go to the dentist anymore. Boy was I wrong.
The worst part of it was after the dentist finished drilling out my cavities, she stuck a mirror in my mouth so I could see the gaping hole that was my tooth. The whole act was prefaced with the statement "this is what happens when you don't floss regularily" (I floss once a week).

I floss more than Playboy underwear now.

How does flossing prevent cavities anyways? Don't cavities form in the pits of your tooth, not between the gaps or on the front/back surface?

I floss only when I brush my teeth in my own shower @ my house.
Which works out to about once a week.

I usually quickly brunsh my teeth in the basement @ the washing machine.. and then don't floss, or brush my teeth at work and don't floss..

I floss everyday. It won't matter how good your teeth are if they start falling out of your gums. mmmmm, Gingivitis.....

I never floss, I'm pretty sure the only people who floss are dentists, and dental hygienists. And their kids probably.
