It might be. Then again, Carlyle has won a Stanley Cup and Boudreau struggles to get past Game 7s.

Well it's been a while since Carlyle has won a game 7.

Really? As much as I enjoy laughing at people overreacting to things, I'd prefer if that didn't happen with something as crucial as head coach.

IIRC one of the reasons given was the players had tuned him out and they started underachieving.

I recall one of the more reputable insiders (I think Friedman) say that Murray didn't really want to fire Carlyle the first time, but it is easier to change a coach than a group of players.

What's wrong with Gulutzan? Just curious.

I still can't get over how bad this guy's rep seems to be. He was one of the hottest commodities out there when Toronto hired him and now he's garbage because the Leafs suck and Corsi? I want to fast forward ten years to when people realize how limited today's 'advanced stats' truly are.

In other news, the Calgary Flames re-hire Bob Hartley as their new head coach.

Still the most unbelievable piece on Carlyle:

Quote:
“I have a theory on concussions,” he said. “I think the reason there’s so much more of them — obviously the impact and the size of the equipment and the size of the player — but there’s another factor: everyone wears helmets, and under your skull when you have a helmet on, there’s a heat issue.

“Everyone sweats a lot more, the brain swells. The brain is closer to the skull. Think about it. Does it make sense? Common sense?” said Carlyle, who said he’d never talked to a doctor about his premise, which he was introduced to by Jim Pappin, the former Leaf who also played his career helmet free.

This man is a head coach in the National Hockey League.

What has Boudreau ever done beyond blowing it with stacked teams?...the internet/media is strange. Like that clown in Edmonton who is such a great coach because...um, uh

Agreed, I was extra happy to see Darryl win his cups for that very reason.

Ryan Whitney ‏@ryanwhitney6
This should work out well. No one could stand the guy when he got fired in Anaheim before and now he'ssssssss back

Whitney played parts of two seasons under Carlyle.
