That guy should have opened his eyes, stopped texting, and stood behind the yellow line...
Oh wait, it was just an accident and I'm not an #######.
Yeah no kidding, unfortunately cp has a bit of the typical social media thing going on when it comes.to tragedy. Empathy kind of goes out the window whether they think the family will read or not.
Usually we're a little more sensitive and empathetic with local stuff but I guess cause there's no name/picture release it makes it easier to disassociate for some.

I think it's people either want to "call it" before any details come out, or they're jerkoffs (rvwhatever guy), or just sad attempts at trolling/humour (petey12).
Most of CP are fairly normal, reasonable, rational people willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt (slipped, pushed, fainted, etc) before the facts come out. The few nimrods choose to think the worst of someone before the facts come out. They drag down the general vibes here and make the site look bad, especially considering the local nature of the story.
Make fun of the TEENAGE GIRLafter we find out she was texting while parkouring high on LSD.

Oh take it easy, dinky.
I used to stand on that train platform morning after morning, and see people wander very close to that yellow line while typing something very important out on their phone. It's not really a bad assumption, in fact, it is the most likely explanation given her age. What else could it be? A seizure? Possibly. Either way, it is very sad.
Sorry that so many of us disappoint you, but before you keep on congratulating yourself, maybe you should read the news, like I did. She walked out in front of a train - hence the assumption that she was on her phone.

I see and agree with your point that immediately assuming the worst of a situation is pretty crappy, but take a ride in the cab of a train and you'll probably be amazed at the frequency of dumb things you see people doing as a train pulls into a platform.
If I'm recalling the news report from last night, correctly, the authorities said it appeared she tried to cross quickly, then fell and was caught. Hopefully she's ok (ok being relative).
In all seriousness, people need to exercise a high level of attention when crossing streets or train tracks or waiting on the platform. Trains are like the touch of death of ground transportation. They rarely lose. The mechanical and kinetic forces are staggering.
A few years ago at the old station at Rocky Mountain Courts there were two brothers horsing around at the platform. One of the brothers was caught between the platform and the train. The forward motion of the train spun him around like a propeller while he was pinned against the platform. His body was flailed against the train and the platform as the train came to a stop. There are videos on the internet of what this looks like and it is not pretty.
Accidents between trains and people very rarely escape with minor injuries. Usually they are of the grave variety simply due to the size differential. Humans are so fragile and squishy that it's a wonder that we survive at all with all the potentially lethal situations that could happen every day.

I am bit confused how this happened. How is it possible to get stuck between the train and platform? Shouldn't the fit between the train and station be pretty tight? Like too tight to slip between even if by accident?

Humans are very squishy (compared to metal and concrete). See also "serious injuries".

When you're driving a car, at least you have 2 dimensions to work with (left-right and speed) to avoid a pedestrian. Obviously there are situations where you might simply not have enough time to react, but in general if you see a potential collision a few seconds in advance you can avoid it one way or another.
No imagine being a train operator. You have exactly 1 control (brakes) and it relies on slippery steel wheels underneath a 40 ton vehicle. You see a pedestrian walking towards you 3...4...5...6 seconds before you're to be there, and there's virtually nothing you can do. Now imagine the rest of your life after you hit that person.

That job sucks.
I've got a friend who works for Transit. She told me that they have 'lost' every single train operator who's hit someone in 6 months or less after the accident.

I know many CTrain drivers, and used to be one myself - while it certainly takes it's toll and some train operators never go back, there's many drivers that drive for years (even decades) after accidents (including fatalities).
In situations like this one, fire department has airbags they can inflate to move the train far enough from the platform to remove people's legs, without further injury to the victim or damage to the train.

Fall against the side of the train at the end of a car or at its articulated joint. Get the edge of your foot pulled forward with the forward motion of the train and the friction of the platform; you get pulled down and body parts start to not look like what they're called really quick.
