Daren Millard on 960 this afternoon said that his source has told him the Jets haven't settled on the number 2 pick as they are split between Laine and Puljujarvi.

Don't believe everything you're told, Daren.

I don't think there's that much separation between the two do I can believe that.

According to Elliot Freidman Puljujarvi and Tkachuk are closer in the eyes of most scouts than Laine and J.P. I think Laine's World Championship performance put him solidly into the two slot.

I don't think Puljujarvia at two is a reach. I can see how a team would prefer a more complete two-way winger who may be able to play centre to a pure sniper.

For those that dig on NHL Draft guides, we over at Future Considerations have (finally) released our 2016 NHL Draft Guide. As per usual, there's a CP discount to be had, right over here...

I'm quite certain Calgary won't get Tkachuk because I want him on the Flames. History shows things rarely work out that way.

If I had to put money down on who we would take, it would be either Nylander or Juolevi in a 70/30 split for Ny.

Given the crap management in Winnipeg, I absolutely believe it. Probably smart to pick jp. Laine would bolt for ufa at the first opportunity or hold out after his elc and demand to be traded

Arguably the best drafting team in the league. If Winnipeg were to choose Puljujarvi I would totally trust their judgement as they rarely seem to miss on their early picks.

I'm not interested in a D at 6, especially an undersized Juolevi.

Hard to miss on early picks when you finish poorly all the time. Our step back was expected. Theirs wasn't. They may have decent scouts but they are a bad management team.

A guy who will likely play at 6'2"/6'3" 210 lbs is undersized?

I remember hearing Lou talk about him being a smaller player a couple days ago on reporting after the Mem Cup. Never really looked at his figure for myself, guess he meant light for his height.

I would go for a forward but if they picked a D i wouldnt be too stressed about it. If I had to pick a D it would be Sergachev.

I think Columbus and Calgary would be good trade partners at the draft. Columbus wants a centerman, Calgary needs a right winger. Columbus may have an interest in Logan Brown ( 6'6 centerman who is a great skater and great hands) who will certainly be available at number 6 pick. J.P. is likely available at 3rd and is right wing ( man it would be crazy if Laine was though) so I see these two teams talking seriously.

Yeah, ditto. To me he's been a much more attractive player than Laine for a while now.

The problem becomes how big the price is to move up.

Logan Brown is viewed as a VERY good centerman prospect behind Matthews. And if we didn't have Monahan, Bennett, Backlund- I would love a 6'6 gifted offensive Center who can actually skate and score and throw the body around. That being said, I think this is what Columbus desires and we are dealing with a 3 to 6 spot. The price ? I'm not sure as theoretically, anything can happen with prospects. 6th pick might of been better than 3rd a year later etc and both teams have different values on different players organization wise.

People have JP as a lock to be a franchise player at 3- I'm skeptical penciling guys in that way. For all we know, Logan Brown may be the next Thornton but bigger ( and he is still growing). It's hard to compare because there isn't many 6'6 skilled centers in the NHL like Logan is to compare to.

Personally to move up, I would give a 2nd and one of Klimchuk/ Poirier and that's about all. Both teams get their man and Columbus gets a valued 2nd pick and a prospect.
