If Dougie had the exact same season but played for the Oilers there is no doubt he makes that team

Pretty funny that our 6/7's Nakladal and Jokipakka are going and yet not out 1/2/3 Gio, Brodie, and Hamilton as we all expected.

In every other sport, it would just be Canada vs USA, yet in hockey it's obligatory to add TEAM. It actually annoys me.

Because it's historical. Back in the day Team Canada was a separate team. Players could play for an NHL team, an AHL team, a CHL team, a Euro team, etc. or Team Canada. Team Canada played a full schedule separate from pro teams and you signed a contract with Team Canada.

Management of all of these teams will never admit it, but politics still creeps into some of the selections - it is not just about talent!

Thought Dougie and either one of Brodie or Gio should have been there. If Gio/Brodie were beaten out by Subban or Letang, I would have shrugged. But Muzzin? Come on.
I'm cheering for NA. This ain't the Olympics. I feel no national pride or competitivness for this tournament at all. Just want to see Monahan and Gaudreau rip it up.

Muzzin is fine. One of the most underrated d-men in the NHL.
Having Weber and Pietrangelo there instead of Subban and Letang, however, is not fine.

Yes, he probably is the single most underrated defenseman in the league (either him, Vlasic or Jared Spurgeon). Muzzin over Giordano or Letang is still the wrong choice, in spite of that fact.
However, realistically, Shea Weber over Giordano or Letang is also the wrong choice. Same goes for Pietrangelo.
At this point, I'll take Jake Muzzin over Shea Weber, who is coasting off a reputation from five years ago.
Not having PK Subban is ####ing inexcusable.

Brodie is better and more under rated.

Having Weber and Pietrangelo over Subban is definitely fine.
Having Muzzin over Letang, Brodie, and Gio is not fine.

^Yeah, everything you just posted is rooted in media-driven storyline and reputation, not actual quality of play over the past 3 NHL seasons.

Of the three defensemen, Subban is far and away the better player. You can make an argument for Pietrangelo, but Weber is just a slightly better Dion Phaneuf at this point, and really shouldn't be seriously considered for Team Canada anymore, never mind actually make the team.

I don't get Pietrangelo. I think he's totally overrated.

Subban is a fairly gifted offensive player. Doesn't make team Canada because of his defensive play and decision making ability. There is a reason why team Canada didn't give him a minute of ice time at the olympics.

Which is complete nonsense. And was at the time, too.

Stop getting your analysis from the mouths of Nick Kypreos and Mike Milbury.

On one hand I'm annoyed that Chia snubbed Hamilton, and that Brodie and Gio were passed over.
On the other hand, good.
Would suck to have any of those three get banged up in a tourney like this right before training camp.
Flames before all.

By the way, if you're looking for snubs, please note that Justin Abdelkader and Brandon Dubinsky are both on Team USA and Phil Kessel isn't.

I can't imagine where, other than from idiots, you would have gotten the impression that PK Subban is a poor defensive player who makes bad decisions on the ice. I give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't come up with that yourself.
