Emergency leader of some sort on CBC pegged it at 10,000 hectares now

It almost feels like the Alberta government is a bit paralyzed on this.

The fires were out in the city itself, but the wildfire is still burning right on top of the city. A shift in the winds could blow it right back in for a second round of destruction.

Smoke damage wouldn't compromise structural integrity, but the cleanup and repair from it would take some time.
This isn't a direct comparable, but the 130th avenue Canadian Tire had a *small fire* a couple years ago, but it took them nearly two months to completely clean the entire store from the smoke.

Can someone please post a link in which I can offer my home in Sherwood Park for people needing a place to stay. I'm at work and don't have time to be looking for it.
Thanks

The commentors of the CBC are the worst of the worst people (aka trolls). I go on there everyday just for the laughs. There can be an article about bunnies populating too much somewhere in PEI and there will be a slew of commentors rushing to say that this was Harper's fault because oilsands...

Sorry, to clarify further.
When I said buildings, I should have said "buildings and houses".
Concrete and Steel would be fine but I would think drying out wood that much would cause it to be more brittle?

I think Notley has asked for CAF helos/SAR as well at this time. As mentioned previously, any Army component will be tricky due to our current operational tempo.
There is a teleconference ongoing upstairs discussing OP LENTUS (what we call any domestic operation).
I know that the 1 Health Services Group (Edmonton) has issued a Warning Order, so I assume they are now on a short notice to move.

If the fire is now expected to engulf the entire city though, you can hardly blame them. Its really unbelievable! I'm not sure that any disaster preparedness plan could be set to deal with that kind of event.

The "useless c####" part is totally inappropriate.
Also, you may not be aware, but there has never been a provincial state of emergency declared under the Emergency Management Act. Not even for the 2013 flood.
The RM of Wood Buffalo has declared a local state of emergency, however.

Premier Notley stated that they [the Province] have the required resources. Thus, I interpret that to mean no Army assets at this time and RCAF (airlift and SAR) assistance is the only DND requirement at this time.

Sorry are you getting your messages crossed:

Declaring a public health emergency won’t help in Alberta fight against threat of fentanyl overdose deaths, says Premier Rachel Notley.
Notley told the legislature Tuesday that provincial law here differs from British Columbia, which declared a public health emergency last month after recording 200 overdose deaths in the first three months of 2016.
