But if the Flames threw in one of their many D-prospect, it would be Wideman, D prospect, 6th over all for 4th?
I mean the Flames have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to D prospects and personally, I think they have the deepest D prospect pool in the league.
NHL ready
Nakladal (obviously ready)
Jokipakka (ready)
Kylington (would like to keep)
Andersson (would like to keep)
Wotherspoon (on the cusp of the NHL)
Kulak (on the cusp)
Seiloff (tradable)
Morrison (tradable)
Stevenson ( not much value)
Culkin (lesser known commodity but still tradable)
With the top 3 set for years, the Flames can't afford to keep some of these guys on the farm and potentially have them turn to diminishing assets.
A thin D pool in Edmonton is the perfect type of team for some of these guys.

What about something like 6th+Wideman+Kulak for 4th+Yakapov
That doesn't really seem too one sided either way, the oil need defense and they need to rid themselves of Yak, they also get a solid D prospect. The Flames get 4th and a chance to see if Yak is worth it.

I also don't see it happening - Oilers could definitely recoup more valuable assets for dropping down. If I was them, I would either demand one of Calgary's defensive prospects, or at least one of the 2nds in order to have more assets to throw at established defencemen.
However, Wideman would no longer have an NMC in his contract unless Edmonton chose to keep it there. IIRC, once a player waives, NTC/NMCs are automatically purged from the contract, unless the recipient team adds it back on. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Quite honestly, I would do Wideman, Kulak, Seiloff and 6th for 4th and Yakapov.
Yakapov being drafted at #1 may have been a miatake, sure. But his numbers in Junior wernt a mistake. He was simply handled really poorly by the Oilers. Rushed into the NhL too fast and now seems lost.
But I have no doubt that a change of scenery could be all it takes for Yaks. Which makes me wonder if Chia is looking for some high end value for Yaks or will just keep him and hope he turns it around.
I feel that Yakapov could respond in a fashion similar to Drouin.

Put it this way,
If you knew you had Yakapov, Dubios, Shinkaruk, Agostino, and Magiapane coming into camp this year but it cost you
Kulak, Seiloff, Wideman and even a 2nd or maybe Dallas's conditional 2 that became a late late 1st, do you pull the trigger?
I sure the hell do!

I guess it depends on how far down they want to drop. I'm only offering Wideman from a Flames perspective because it's just two spots. If someone down in say 10 or 11 want to move up to 4th, then for sure they'll need to offer more than just what the Flames are.
Or it could be a good Flames d prospect and the 6th for Yakupov and a 4th. Not sure what appetite Oilers would have for that, as the Oiler's perceived value of Yakupov is a bit hard to gauge.

Why would the Oilers take on a bad contract, even if it is just for one year, to drop down in the draft? I'm confused, regardless of how few positions they are dropping, I don't understand.

Because Wideman to them might not be a bad contract. They're in desperate need of right handed dmen.
Heck, to be honest, I don't even think Wideman staying with Calgary is that bad a contract, it's not like he's Mason Raymond. Guy has one year left, and I predict he's going to have a bounce back year this year, and come trade deadline, we either keep him for the playoff push, of we deal him as a rental for a 3rd rounder.

Yup, I still feel real bad for Horak. But at least he recognized the KHL was better than the cesspool up north.

"I wish Burke didn't trade Sven" was said and then only said sorry, I thought it was Burke. Hasn't said why they wish sven was still here.
There there are the other comments made, already talking about tanking next season? Trading this first for a goalie and there's more I got tired of looking up. If Par is just a normal poster they should be more open and clear but at the same time be realistic and explain the reasoning behind their posts. These posts just follow the same patterns as others that have shown up and said things like "trade Gaudreau, Monahan and Bennett for the first overall" or things like that.

The reason I said, Sven was here because the Flames need wingers and Sven is a winger and he was taken in the first round and traded for a second round pick, I did not know that Sven's stock had fallen so much and I was not sure that the second round pick was used to bring in Hamilton and other young D.
The tank comment was because the team has holes that need to filled and not getting a top 3 pick sucked. Now that I look back at, it was wrong.

I don't the Oilers are going trade Yakapov to the Flames, Yakapov has the talent to become a impact player, he was just misused in Edmonton.

Another thing is please try to keep all of your responses in one post please. There's a multi quote button for that purpose.
