Now Brady and the NFL Players Association can seek a stay and either ask for a re-hearing before the second circuit or appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Seeking a stay could delay the suspension, but if Brady loses a re-hearing or appeal, then the suspension could come down at any point during the season.
The 2nd Circuit said the contract between players and the NFL gave the commissioner authority that was "especially broad."
"Even if an arbitrator makes mistakes of fact or law, we may not disturb an award so long as he acted within the bounds of his bargained-for authority," the court said.
The NFLPA and Brady can petition for a re-hearing in front of the same panel then the entire 2nd Circuit Court or take their appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, though either move is unlikely and would be a steep, costly and time-consuming climb. They would have to request a stay of Brady's suspension during an appeal.
The NFL has the option to implement the full suspension or attempt to reach a settlement and avoid further appeals.
Bayless is such a pathetic Pats homer. The league pulled strings Skip (Pats fans nod knowingly)? How about the first judge was wrong? That's why there's appellate courts. Things didn't go Brady's way the first time because he was innocent, it was because the NFL had a crappy process that the judge didn't like. I mean, how could you have a process when this kind of cheating had never been prosecuted before? So judge overstepped his authority and Tom Brady (CheaterTM) is a first ballot, probably unanimous, HOFer.
The Appeal Court did not decide that Brady "cheated". The only question they answered was whether the NFL had the authority under the CBA to impose the penalty they did.
They can all make this go away with each side agreeing to a two game suspension.

Drew Breees: I'm not going to trust any investigation led by Goodell, NFL
"I think we would all agree that (Goodell) definitely has too much power," he told Sports Illustrated. "He is judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to all the discipline. I'm not going to trust any league-led investigation, when it comes to anything. It's not transparent.
QB's and union members stick together, big whoop. Like that's news. Not transparent as in destroying evidence transparent? Lol. If the league had done that guaranteed it would be public knowledge. A Brady confession wouldn't convince Pats fans.

Finally the draft is upon us, feels like it's taken so long to get here. This is the first draft in a long time where no one really knows what's going to happen after the first two picks.
Mock drafts are all over the place, so will be interesting to see how the cards fall. I don't think SD can pass on a talent like Ramsey. Then the Cowboys...god I just get the feeling they draft a running back at 4 because...Jerry Jones.
The Chargers pick will be critical for the rest of the top 10. They could use both Tunsil and Ramsey, but apparently they also like Buckner.
The draft will be shown live by German and Austrian TV stations for the first time ever, which really shows how much the NFL has been booming lately over here.

Mayock seems to think they go with Ronnie Stanley rather than Tunsil.
Everyone's mock drafts are hinging on the Chargers pick. I've seen Stanley, Tunsil, Ramsey and Buckner go at that spot. But the top 10 seems fairly similar among all the draftniks mock drafts. In no particular order Goff/Wentz/Buckner/Ramsey/Jack/Bosa/Tunsil/Hargraves/Floyd/Stanley.
But who the hell knows, this could all change if the Cowboys go crazy and draft Elliot.
Just remember when Kiper and Mayock are going off about guys today that Kiper compared JaMarcus to John Elway.
It's really quite hilarious because EVERYONE went crazy over JaMarcus Russell and to this day a lot of analysts look back on that as their biggest miss ever.
You would have thought his case would have reduced the importance of a Pro Day or the Combine but the NFL is obsessed with measurables and not actual football production.
I honestly think that Russell was a failure of the way the NFL was structured at the time. The scouts, head coaches, and talking heads weren't all wrong, the kid had all the tools, and a decent college career. He just wasn't forced to work on his game or stay in shape at the NFL level since he was guaranteed $32M before playing a down.
One of the analysts said that the guy had all the tools but you had to dig into his personal life to see if you could trust him with $10M a year in guaranteed money - turns out that you couldn't.
It would be interesting to see how his career would have panned out in the NFL now where rookies are guaranteed less money and where he may have had to have a little more focus.

However he goes first overall, gets handed a huge contract with a ton of guaranteed money, and never really had to work because of it.

Well there were red flags up around Russell at the time of the draft, too, which everyone conveniently forgets. There were questions about his work ethic and ability to read defenses. One thing about Wentz that I like is that the guy sounds like a tireless worker who eats, sleeps, and breathes football.
^^This is why I'm terrified of the Eagles drafting Wentz.
If they can redshirt Wentz in his first year, I'm convinced he has to turn into a decent NFL QB. There are too many former QBs involved with the Eagles to screw it up, it's just not conceivable.
But if Bradford (not Sanchez) continues to act like a diva and is eventually traded, that forces Wentz to start and more than likely bust. You can't seriously expect the kid to go from Div I to the NFL immediately.
