And thats the series. What a disappointing end to Datsyuk's NHL career. But still, what a legend. Pretty easy for Tampa in the end.

I hope they give Datsyuk a star of the game. Too bad he couldn't end it in front if his own fans in Detroit.

"No one wanted to get on a plane tomorrow to go to Detroit." -- Ben Bishop

He's just speaking in general terms there, not specifically about the Lightning.

Boooooooooo. Detroit has never been a favourite but I hate Tampa so much. I'm grateful I've been able to see the Magic Man in action at The Joe as much as I have. Mad respect for him.

Chills watching Datsyuk in his last possible game in the NHL. Especially when had the puck at the end of the game.

I mean, I actually like Detroit. But what possible reason do you have for hating the Lightning? They've played arguably the most exciting style of hockey in the league over the past 5 years. Also, they have basically no one on their team who's an obvious target for hatred... maybe Callahan I guess, if you're a Caps guy or something? Puzzling.

Plus they're run by Steve Yzerman. How can you not love a team run by Stevie Y?

Is this just a hangover from 04? Get over it, it's over a decade ago now. Even Oil fans aren't that petty; I haven't heard of any grudges against the Canes.

Lightning are my favourite team in the EC.

maybe some people don't want to get over it? I hope the Americanizing of the NHL continues to fail forever.

It's been a pleasure to have caught as much of Datsyuk's career we have, especially his prime here in the West.

He probably singlehandedly, completely made me re-think how I view the game.

You lost that battle in 1926.

That I have TB players? They should play in 3 round of the playoffs. Good amount of time to accumulate points.

I do too. Don't worry about it. You always want to take a series win over an extra game, the risk of losing the series isn't worth the extra 6 or 7 points you're likely to get over having it go longer. My pool team is all TBL and SJS (thanks to some less than stellar drafting position) and I'm also hoping the Sharks pull it out tonight.

On that note though, the more interesting statement is that they "should play in 3 rounds". Is that the general consensus, that the Lightning should be favourites over either of Florida or the Islanders? That's my view; the Bolts / Wings series was just played at a higher level throughout.

No one cares about your pool.

I think TB can beat both Florida or NYI. I don't think its general consensus, just my thoughts in my pool strategy haha.

At the start of the playoffs, I thought the winner of Florida/NYI would take the winner of Detroit/TB, but after watching some of both series, I expect Tampa to wipe the floor with their next opponent.
