Not as good of a chance as Olli Maata has of making the Penguins.

0% chance of making the NHL roster right from training camp.
5% chance of playing more than 10 NHL games next season.
10% chance of playing 1 - 9 games sometime over the season.
Seriously, I believe that BT will let him develop in Stockton until he's completely ready for The Show. There is no crucial need to have him play on the Flames right away, and there are 4 - 6 centers ahead of him on the depth chart. It could be a year, maybe 2, before he has a full time roster spot.
Post expansion, I can envision him centering the 2nd or 3rd line, thus freeing up Backlund for a trade.
Minor rant:
Jankowski is a LH shooting center-man.
Proposals slotting him in as a RW to start are ridiculous.

Straight out of camp? Doubt it. Could very well make it until the final cuts.
Bet he'd be one of the first callups though

I don't expect him to mask the team out of camp but I definitely don't think he's gonna need two years in the AHL as Francis and a few others have suggested. He's way more ready than that!

2. If Stajan gets moved and Grant isnt back that may change but right now it's a 2. He will see some time up but it will be a few games at a time. 2017/18 he's on the team.

Which is not the same as playing RW on a regular shift. Pretty normal tactic to put forwards on their off wing on the PP.

Yeah, it was a little odd though. Jankowski was playing the right wing when the faceoff was on the right side of the ice. Don't see that much to start off.
My point was about Jankowski's versatility though. If he had to play his off wing, I don't doubt he could do it.

Why can't he push Bennett to the wing??
But as per the question, 2/10

Jankowski won't get a sniff until Stajan is gone. I give him a 20% chance this year. Now the Stockton PBP guy, I think he's got 0% chance of getting a call up, unless Beasley gets hit by a bus.

I think if one of the top 3 C's gets injured, Janko is called up.

I like that you mentioned three centres who were all Flames first rounders. Add Janko and it would be four. Would be very cool to see.

Yes, totally agree that it never happens.
Flames have a plethora of left-shooters - especially of the more skilled variety. Very few RHS organizationally.
Ferland (LHS), Colborne (LHS), Shinkaruk (LHS), Hudler (LHS) all played on the top RW position.
Ideal? No. However, organizationally, there is little choice here.
However, with Monahan - Backlund - Bennett - Jankowski will have to fit on a wing at least to start his career barring an injury, at least barring the Flames from deciding to use Bennett as a winger (and the last third of the season Bennett was being groomed for center, so we will have to wait and see).

This is pretty close to what I think. Except I would have 3-5-9

If he gets a sniff next year on the big club, it won't be a center. The Flames tend to groom centers on the wing (Bennett) and there is no room at center now anyways. They will not bring him up to play 4th line duties- no matter what happens to Stajan. Remember the days we had crap for centerman prospects and options ? We certainly have depth now.
Now what we need are skilled wingers besides Johnny.

How can you say they tend to groom their centers on the wing when Bennett is about hte only guy who wasn't groomed at center? Monahan, Granlund, Colborne and Jooris all spent more time at centre than on the wing.

I could see him making the team as the 3rd line RW with Bennett if he has a good camp. It would help to ease him into the NHL full time.
I think it will largely depend on how much cap space is available, if they are able to move certain contracts (Wideman/Stajan).
If the Flames are stuck with certain players and can't afford any UFA guys beyond addressing the goalie, then I think Janko starts in the NHL as he could be a cheap and decent option.

Colborne has spent all year at wing, what are you talking about ? Just like the year before. Monahan is an exception as he was mature and already played a 1st line role very quickly. There has been a revolving door on the 3rd and 4th line with Stajan, Jooris yes- Granny too, but these guys are not top end talent. Grant took a few faceoffs too while here ( very good too and I hope we keep him).
Maybe I worded myself wrong here. I should of said that with top end centerman prospects (with the exception of Monahan), it seems like that if we do have a new guy like Bennett, they tend to ease them in slower now as being a centerman as it is a lot of responsibility on a rookie. That mixed with trying to get them quality playing time. If memory serves me right, I believe Backs spent a bit of time on the wing in his early years before graduating to a full time center as well.

Very unlikely to me that he makes the team out of camp. But a big surprise from one of our prospects is exactly what this team needs. Maybe it's him.
