I give it a 3, just for getting Edmonton out of the top 3.

I had some crazy ones yesterday on it -- pulled a Buffalo, New Jersey, Arizona. Then a Ottawa, Calgary, Boston. I hope it's something fun like that!

I have less problems with this one. Edmonton at 4 seems about right. Vancouver is a mess. They are more than a #1 away from respectability so they can have it.

I give it a 4.

Wow Bingo you have ill luck.
I ran the simulator 10 times and got Flames picking 3rd once, 2nd once, and 1st overall an astounding 5 times.
I recognize that this is unrealistically stupidly lucky (I get that way weirdly sometimes), but you o forum master have not been lucky at all. Really hoping for the unlikely top 3 pick this year.

NO! Not Van at 1...Gave it a 2 because Oilers were pushed out, but next to a 1-2 Edm/Van this is the worst outcome I would want to see

Had to give this one a 1 - and I had to round up to do it. First draw that broke my (total arbitrary) rules and resulted in a negative number.

Negatives:
-5 for Vancouver winning the lottery
-2 For Toronto being in the top 3
-2 for Montreal being in the top 3
-5 for Calgary not being in the top 3
Total Negatives: -14
Subtotal -4

Positives
+ 3 for Edmonton being out of the top 3
Total positives: 3

Total Value: -1

3 Canadian teams in the top 3 spots, and with Vancouver winning the lottery at 1. That's ugly. 6 months straight of Mathews interviews, what he ate, how he feels about humans interbreeding with martians, and how he thinks McDavid would feel about it. Then Toronto talking about Laine and how he might be better than both McDavid and Mathews because he prefers blueberry scones over chocolate chip scones. Then every single day we would be hearing one more tidbit out of Montreal on how Puljujarvi is embracing the French language, and how he won't eat a scone since only English speakers like it.

Every single day.

Yep, I think my -1 is about right for my own personal dislike of those teams, and the nauseating media frenzy it would create on a daily basis.

The only positive in this scenario was that Edmonton got pushed out of the top 3.

The only reason why I'm not giving it lower than a 3 is, at least I can stomach Leafs and Nucks picking top 3. Oilers doing so without Flames also in on it would get an automatic 1 from me.

Meh, the only lottery that matters is the one on April 30th where the Flames win and get to pick first overall. So why get depressed or panties in a twist when the best is yet to come?

So let's say we get the 1st pick... do we trade it for the 2nd pick and get Laine + whatever we get in the trade?

I'm OK with Calgary picking 6, but the idea of giving the three most annoying fan bases more ammo to annoy the western hemisphere made me go with 3.

sometimes the skeptic in says this thing is rigged. Last few days I have been running it when I heard them talk about it on 960.Same results. Today everything is coming up flames. Like a absurd amount

I keep coming around and liking Mcloed more and more, If we are in 6 I think im heading there before Nylander. I also wont be thrilled with a Dman as silly as that is.

Would depend on return, of course, but I'd be in favor of it.

That said, keeping Matthews and trading Bennett for a winger would also be just fine. Or just converting him to one.

The dream scenario is the Flames picking 1st, and teams like the Devils, and Jackets picking the next 2. Bump all bottom 3 Canadian teams back 3 spots.

I have ran a few mocks where Calgary picks 1st and Arizona 7th. Have to wonder if the Flames would consider trading down to 7th if the Coyotes also sent Strome in return? I really wonder how badly that franchise wants the homegrown superstar?

Way way way rather convert Bennett to the wing than trade him. Bennett has shown flashes of brilliance this season scoring a couple absolute highlight reel goals. He plays a style that fits the culture of the team as well.

If we land Matthews I wonder how it ultimately shakes out? Do you have a line built around the 2 Americans in Johnny and Auston then have Monahan and Bennett play together? Do you Keep Monahan and Gaudreau together and build a line around Matthews and Bennett? Do you convert Matthews to wing and play him with Gaudreau and Monahan while building another line around Bennett?

Lots of options of the Flames draft Matthews

I think if you move Bennett to the wing, you stick him with Auston and have 2 elite pairings on different lines, and try to fill in on RW, whether that be through FA or w/e. I also think if we get a Finn we should do the same thing though, have 2 dangerous lines instead of one real elite one.

It's depressing because it's a visualization of what the odds actually are. All the "Hockey Gods have our back for not tanking” talk is all well and good but when you run the numbers and actually do this it goes out the window. This is what is most likely to happen and it sucks.

Butttttt I finally got a positive result!

1. Jets
2. Toronto
3. Flames
4. Oilers
5. Canucks

10. We get a fin. Don't care about anything else.

The draft lottery is an enigma (or is it an enema?)

I agree

Having 3 lines built around solid pairs would really spread out the scoring for the Flames

Gaudreau-Monahan
Bennett-Matthews
Frolik-Backlund

Very solid now and in the future
