I think we’d be better served by individual game threads in critical situations

Or this could be the first round thread for Dallas/Minnesota instead.

Russell is back and played in the Stars last two games; 20+ minutes in both
Just needs to stay healthy enough to play in 7 more games

The pick scenarios
If Dallas loses in the first 2 rounds (If Arizona does not sign Connor Bleackley drop the pick down one more spot):
#55 OA if Washington also loses in the first 2 rounds
#56 OA if Washington goes on to the Eastern Conference Finals
If Dallas goes to the Western Conference Finals and lose :
#27 OA ** only if Washington also loses the Eastern Conference Finals
#28 OA ** all other cases
If Dallas loses Stanley Cup Final:
#29 OA **
If Dallas wins Stanley cup:
#30 OA **
**(If Russell doesn't play 50% of the first 2 rounds drop the pick another 30 spots + an additional spot if the Coyotes don't sign Connor Bleackley)

I like that there's a team to follow and it'll still have implications for the Flames.
Come on everybody, we've got the biggest, shiniest bandwagon in town, hop on!

Hopefully the Stars make quick work of Minny, and then it's likely Chicago... I like their chances.

Yep I think Dallas has a good chance of sending us that pick. They should be able to dust off MIN in short order. Then hopefully CHI and STL pound each other into the ground for 7 games while DAL is off resting and healthy. Then DAL should stand a chance against the winner of CHI/STL.
Thank you Treliving for giving us something for Flames fans to cheer on during the playoffs. It's like a little trade deadline bonus gift.

Yeah round 2 will be a tough one for sure. Not even ruling out an upset v the Wild

I guess it's something to cheer for. It's hard when you're not personally invested in the team to begin with. But I can get down with Chicago not being in the conference finals, as well as getting awarded a 1st. Sick of the same old teams there at the end.

I actually like Russell (not so much for this year, but for that time last year when he beasted it when Gio went down) so would have been cheering for him to do well anyway. Added better draft pick if they win?

Go Dallas! I don't see that defence being champion level at all, but they should be able to beat Minnesota, and if they play the Blues I can see them getting into round 3.
If they have to play Chicago, not a chance.

Not sure the goaltending they are getting is going to take them further than the 2nd round, but weird things happen in the playoffs and Niemi has a cup.
