So is it 100% no to the Flames or is it that they're just not the front runners?

The way that reads to me is that the flames just aren't the favorites. They could still be in it...

I do not think that Lyon signs in Edmonton over LA.

The man is a 4th generation Yale student. He comes from a family of very intelligent and well-educated people. In other words, he's too smart to make a mistake like that.

Yeah, he would sign with LA. All their back ups look like unbeatable brick walls behind that team.

Maybe the Flames will get another Kenney Morrison instead.

News Update

Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
The #Flyers have agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with goaltender Alex Lyon from Yale University → bit.ly/1WaGFK8

At least he didn't go to a division rival.

Flyers depth is on par with CGY's. Probably feels better about winning a job over Stolarz than Gillies. Who knows. Too bad though, a Lyon/Gillies tandem looked pretty sexy on paper in Stockton next season.

For a guy who went to Yale, you'd think he know that Philly is a goalie graveyard.

It goes to show you that Friedman knows as much as we do. He mentioned LA and Edmonton and there was no mention of the Flyers at all. I don't know much about Lyon but I am glad he signed somewhere in the East. If he is as good as what people here says, then great Flames does not have to face him a lot.

Dude, are you serious? He mentioned there were other teams but Edm and LA were leading. Things change.

How many stories have you broke vs Friedman?

Silly post.

To be fair I wouldn't choose the flames over Flyers either. Joni has looked decent and should be the backup next year. Flames will probably trade for a starter. Flames have be extremely high on Gillies and I doubt they go a 1a1b in Stockton especially after Gillies missed a year they will want to give him every game possible. So why sign here to be a AHL backup.

Friedman also put this in his 30 thoughts a few hours before the signing was announced:

Quote:
6. One reporter’s guess on the list for Yale free-agent goalie Alex Lyon? Carolina, Chicago, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Philadelphia.

I'm thinking one of the conditions of him signing there was that the flyers get rid of Andrew MacDonald lol. Their D really needs some help...and Philly is where goalies go to decline their stats.

I don't like this kid.
