apart from Gaudreau and Monahan, to me Colborne and Ortio are no-brainers. In my opinion, Hamilton, Agostino, Wotherspoon and Arnold are quite easy decisions too.
after that, it gets a bit more tricky. I'm sure quite a few users want Jooris gone, but he'd be cheap and he's a decent 4th liner/extra forward. I'd like to have him back. I also like Turner Elson and would like to see him stay for another season.
I say cut the rest. Shore's had 4 pro seasons and he still hasn't broken through ... I wouldn't be overly sad if they cut ties with him. With the Flames pursuing Lyon (fingers crossed) and McDonald turning pro, I don't think they need Poulin any more. Van Brabant can go, too.

Why are there people voting Jooris?
He hasn't helped the team this year at any point, no more than another call up could.

He hasn't been great by any stretch, but it wouldn't cost much and he is still young. Even if he is a tweener, he still has value as an RFA

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I can honestly see a couple "Max Reinhart" type trades happening this off-season, in which the players RFA rights get sent to another team in return for a conditional pick.
Flames are overloaded with prospects these days down on the farm, and some of the older college guys who just aren't looking like long term options for the Flames might need to move on.

there's already five guys who wouldn't re-sign our 4th best goalscorer of the season who's on pace for 20 goals and 44 points over 82 games. Wow. I know there's fans who don't like him, but come on.

Hasn't Van Brabant been good this year? Would keep him for one more go.

Voted for Gaudreau, Monahan, Hamilton, Wotherspoon, Ortio & Poulin.
Aside from the obvious ones, goaltending depth seems to be a need and Hamilton can do Jooris' job at half the price. Colborne was a tough call but if upgrades are needed (ie: starting goalie) and trades of bad contracts can't be made they'll need to save money somewhere.

He's still an NHLer. Rather trade him for a 7th than not qualify him and lose him for nothing. Asset management, apparently some posters don't consider it

Cap space is an asset. Even if its only a million.

No way we should keep Jooris. He won't be expensive but he will get around a 1 mil. Guys like Agostino, Hamilton, Hathaway have all shown that they can play on the 4th line for much cheaper
Only way I keep Jooris is if we find a way to dump Stajan

3-5 shouldn't be renewed. I voted no renewal for Poulin, Elson, Van Brabant, and Shore.

Yeah? Not sure how that invalidates what I said. We could trade him at the draft, trade him in the summer, keep him, waive him next fall. I don't think he'd clear waivers so if you really need to get rid of him I think it would be quite easy.
Only reason to not qualify him is if he has arbitration rights and the Flames think he would win that. Based on his numbers I don't think he has a great case for arbitration, not sure if he's eligible.
Giving away NHLers for nothing is not the greatest idea. I'd rather trade him.

Let's split hairs over a couple hundred K here and there on a roster where the salary cap will probably be $72+M.
LET'S DO IT ALL SUMMER!!!

I did indeed misread your post, sorry. Yes, you'd ideally trade for a pick and spend that money elsewhere.
