The kid could have been waiting for his Uni to reopen after the easter weekend, to square away finalizing his courses, arranging an absence, before signing. Was probably not thinking, or at least hoping, the team wouldnt be done yet.

He may have actually said "signing" as opposed to a "deal".

You're spot on. This kid is hardly going to be the difference in the Flames fortunes over the next decade. The team has bigger problems to address in net and down the wings.
Would it be nice to see if he can turn into an asset for the franchise after expending a first rounder on him? Of course. Is it likely he really amounts to more than a role player int he bottom six at this point? Probably not.

There's some. The baseline dollars are set but there's the size of the ELC performance bonus, size of the signing bonus, whether it starts this year or next, and "handshake" agreements (likely related to how much time he'll spend on the NHL roster this year and how many games he might play).

They could just be slow playing it because they don't want to use him on the road trip this week anyway. They probably just want to look at Poirier, Shinkaruk, Grant and Kulak for these two games in Los Angeles with the intention of leaving a couple of the call ups in California to finish the season with Stockton. The Flames can then head back to Calgary and use Jankowksi for the last couple of games at home.

It's not even like it is taking a long time. His university career just ended.

I heard he's asking for more details on Calgary Next. Wants more detailed plans than what has been presented. Would like to know with the West Village proposal, what alterations to Crowchild and Bow Trail are planned to stem access and traffic concerns. Also he'd like to know if a Starbucks is planned for the concourse, as he didn't see one on the renderings.
If he doesn't like the answers he gets, he look to Aug 15 UFA options.

It could be as simple as his health and Flames off day. The moment he signs Poirier or Shinkaruk must be returned to Stockton; but then they'd have to be recalled due to his illness.

Without seeing him play an NHL game, I don't know how you can say that.

There's a difference between saying it remains to be seen and concluding he isn't anything to be excited about like it's factual.

yeah, because words like " likely" and " probably not" suggest fact as opposed to opinion?

"Likely" and "probably not" are a long ways from conclusive or factual.

Have you guys read this thread, or paid any attention to this contentious topic since he was drafted?
I wasn't referring to that single post, but the multitude of posters who (in some cases) almost seem like they have a vendetta against the kid to continue their narrative from the hardened stance they took when he was drafted.
