I somewhat don't agree that shaming people is wrong, either. Shaming people shouldn't be done for reasons of cruelty, malice, or to make the shamer feel better about themselves, but mockery has its place. The idea that everyone has the right to believe what they want and be who they want to be without criticism is ridiculous.
So, really, fat-shaming is wrong because it almost never proceeds from a genuine desire to change behaviour, it's just an excuse for thinner people to feel good about themselves for not being fat, or to try to exercise control and dominance.
I agree with your first statement completely. There is nothing wrong with challenging ideas or lifestyles. While hopefully, exercising respect.
I disagree with your second statement however. You are greatly assuming people's intentions. I can just as easily say challenging the idea that fat people should change stems from concerns over the weight (no pun intended) that our health care system must lift in order to deal with an ever growing obese society. Since we all must bear those costs associated with that treatment, I feel safe in saying that those criticisms do not stem from an air of superiority, but instead to actually have a positive net impact on society as a whole.
Again, to read through the Godless Apostate thread, would show that the criticisms you feel against "fat shaming" are explicitly evident as people denounce those who believe in "fairy tales" ect.
I'm all for treating people with respect but understand that if someone is fine with accosting religious people for their pie in the sky pink unicorn beliefs, and if they are packing a few extra pounds, shouldn't feel offended when it's pointed out that they are a disgusting fat body and a strain on the services we as a society must pay for. IE It goes both ways.
If we can challenge religious people based on their decisions and beliefs that they can change, certainly that applies to someone who is over weight and cannot/will not do anything to change their situation.

Sorry I'm on my iPad so I don't have time to cut out quotes. Basic gist is that psychotic mother causes her daughter extreme mental distress and harm all because she was angry that her ex-husband got engaged.

You've missed the boat completely here. Over eating actually has a net benefit to our health care system. We should be subsidizing obesity if your concern is cost. I'll let you puzzle out why. I suppose you'll think of other justifications though...spandex or something.
Obese people cost more to the health care system early, but because they die early they cost less than healthy people.
Of course that smug argument ignores all other costs to society
The same can be said of smokers. In fact, I think smokers save the health care system more because they tend to get cancer and die fairly quickly, while obese people often have diabetes and chronic joint problems that require treatment for decades.

Aww, social justice warriors, the best people on our planet. Good lord, what a whiney bitch.
What makes you so special? What makes you so special? What makes you so special? What makes you so special? I'm taking this right to the police. You assaulted me.
Yeah, she was wrong for parking in a handicap but god damn SJW's are some of the most smug, annoying people on the planet. The whole holding a camera in someone's face and waiting for a reaction is the lamest thing going these days. Would have been nice if she just cracked him in the face and said "There, that's what actual assault looks like".
