Default Flames 4. Habs 1. Backstrom solid in Flames debut

Monahan is just 5 points away from leading the 2013 NHL Draft Class.

Hamilton is 5 points away from his career high.

Giordano is 1 point away from a career high.

Backlund is 1 point away from a career high.

Brodie set a new career high tonight.

Gaudreau is 3 goals away from 30.

Composed, but rusty at times. Wasn't tested a whole lot, but was solid.

How aren't we in a playoff spot? So disappointing.

He has also pulled ahead of both Nugent-Hopkins and Saad, so he is now second behind Landeskog for most goals scored by anyone drafted since 2011 (and he's played over 100 fewer games than Landeskog).

Looked like an experienced starter should. Didn't panic or overreact when under pressure and knew when to leave the net to play the puck. Wasn't tested a heck of a lot and you could tell he wasn't always sure with how far he should shift while tracking play.

If he gets more starts, he should get better.

I'm a fan of this list of top goal scorers from the 2011, 2012, and 2013 drafts.

Code:
Landeskog 98 (2011)
Monahan 79 (2013)
Saad 76 (2011)
Nugent-Hopkins 75 (2011)
Galchenyuk 68 (2012)
Shaw 67 (2011)
Kucherov 64 (2011)
Zibanejad	60 (2011)
MacKinnon 59 (2013)
Forsberg 56 (2012)
Couturier	54 (2011)
Palat 54 (2011)
Gaudreau	52 (2011)
Scheifele	52 (2011)
Huberdeau	51 (2011)
Jenner 50 (2011)
Yakupov 48 (2012)
Barkov 47 (2013)
Hertl 45 (2012)
Lindholm 35 (2013)
Monahan is also 2 goals behind Doug Gilmour for 39th all-time in Flames history.

A Flames goalie with a .955 for his season, feels good man.

Backlund gave Backstrom the Fire Helmet in the dressing room after the game - classy move!

Dead last in GAA.

People say defense is boring though.

Its not just goaltending. Though it has been abysmal at times as well.

Its the team defense that has been an issue all year. They so often don't play as a unit and leave their assignments....and that's particularly true of the top 6 F group as much as anyone else on the club.

2nd most goals of any pick in the past 5 years for Monahan. That's incredible.
