I thought I sold high on him 2 months ago in my keeper league, but he just keeps putting up points. I'm happy for him, I always liked him when he was here.

I bet if we had that extra goal we'd make the playoffs.

hm, I thought Hudler would have a bigger impact in Florida right from the get go.

Me too. I thought he would be a lot more productive. From what I have seen though only watching bits and pieces of games he doesn't get a lot of minutes in Florida. I think he plays about 5 minutes less now than compared with his time in Calgary.

I never would have thought Kris Russel would have more points than Hudler post trade deadline

I'm surprised you guys are so surprised Hudler's slowed down, having a bad year, and went to a team with considerably better offensive depth. When FLA is healthy he's arguably a 3rd liner. More of a depth, insurance move for them than a high impact move. He isn't the same player as last year. Be interesting to see what he gets as an UFA.

It's a little early to close the book on Hudlers contribution to the Panthers. I still think he will have a meaningful impact. I remember a few of our deadline acquisitions (Jokinen in particular) who started fast but faded quickly.

Same thing I thought. The minutes they're playing obviously plays a huge part, but still, very surprising

What has surprised me most with Russell is that the stars hae been playing him close to 27 minutes a night.

they've had a lot of injuries on the blueline though - Klingberg, Demers and Benn have all missed time recently. But agreed, it seems he stepped in and played a lot of minutes right away. Good on him - he'll certainly get paid this summer.

I said before that trade happened that Hudler wouldn't supplant any of Huberdeau, Jagr, Reilly Smith, or Jokinen. They've all been exceptional this year and don't deserve 3rd line minutes. Hudler has been put on a line with Purcell and Nick Bjugstad. The good news is they're definitely finding their chemistry, and it won't be long before they start producing lots of points. With those 2 trades, Florida became a 3 line team instead of a 2 line team. Pretty valuable in the playoffs to have that offensive depth.

Some updates on trade deadline guys:
Russell - injured
9 GP, 0G, 4A = 4Pts, -1

Jones:
12 GP, 2G, 1A = 3pts, +2

Hudler:
13 GP, 5G, 2A = 7pts, +0

Granlund:
10 GP, 1G, 1A = 2pts, +1

Shinkaruk needs one more point to tie Granlund in points so far.
