He did that last game actually, he has 77 now.
Only 4 back of Gilmour for 39th! Gio is 38th with 83 goals.

Jets shot down in Flames (4-1)
Also with tonight's game, Joni Ortio played 30+ minutes, which has resulted in him remaining an RFA.

Am I stoopid to think GIO should get his Norris nomination?

Not stupid, but pretty homerish. You can't get votes for 80% of a good season. Especially when there's a Karlsson doing historic things and Doughty dominating on top of the usual great crowd of Western Conference defensemen

In all fairness, he just said nomination. I don't doubt that Giordano is nominated, but won't be included in the final 3. I do agree that especially with Karlsson, it is nearly impossible for anyone else to win it this year. Too many other great defencemen playing really well that will push out Giordano (and Brodie) out of the final 3 for sure, but I do bet he gets some votes.

Gio IMO hasn't even been top 10 this year. Nominated by a few? Sure, but too inconsistent in the first half of the season and some real bad stretches.
Brodie has been much better.

Jets are pathetic.
Too bad that the Flames are the kind of team that deserves Matthews but won't get him

Ortio also pushed his season sv% into .902 and career into .900. Baby steps but still.

Great. Again no top3 pick , this was perfect season to get top talent for the first line, but no flames have to start winning in the most unwanted moment. Enjoy watching big top-end talent RW Puljujarvi in some other jersey and make yourself proud you didn't tank in those last totally useless games.

Typical Debil downer post. Go sulk in the corner and leave fans that like winning to enjoy.
Pride is not something you can quantify but it does have a real value. Give me a team that never stops trying 10 times out of 10.

This post really annoys me. I totally understand why people want to get a higher pick, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I have a problem with fans coming in here and pissing on the team for winning. Why do it? Did you expect them to lose all 12 games left? Or is it so bad to be a whole 2 points up on second last that you see no possible way of slipping in the standings?
Not being upset by losses is totally fine. Crapping on the team for winning is ridiculous.
Go Flames go. Great win tonight.

Sure it's difficult to tell them to lose intentionally but you can scratch your top players call up some farm guys and prospects. yet it is still doable, Peter Forsberg admitted their national team tanked in the olympics to avoid canada/russia and you know what they won the gold.

I don't know how to break this to you, but the top three picks are awarded by lottery anyway. The Flames were never going to get one of them except by winning the lottery, and they're not going to miss out on them except by losing the lottery.
Either you didn't bother to inform yourself of this elementary fact all year long, or you chose to ignore it so you could turn the insignificant difference between 27th and 28th place into something to piss and moan about. Neither alternative looks good on you.

Although he's looking like himself again, I would argue that Gio hasn't been the best defenseman on the team this year, much less in the league.
