Russell is having a disaster of a game. Just got pyloned by Kopitar, fell down on the second goal. On for all three goals.

Washington scores in OT, but challenged as it was offside.

Video shows it was offside, but they rule Kuznetsov had possession despite leaving the puck behind himself. I think they got it wrong. Kuznetsov wasn't touching the puck when he crossed the blueline.

You don't need to be touching it to have possession

That's true, but that gets called offside 99/100.

Kunitz scored at 15:51 of the first period and it looked like the 1-0 Penguins lead would hold for the entire game. Okposo has scored on the power play with 5:25 left in regulation time, 1-1.

They might do it as they have 37 shots after forty minutes.

Here's the play at the blueline:
https://streamable.com/h8d6
https://streamable.com/uksv
https://streamable.com/cvoe

That rule is so ambiguous and never gets called like this during a game. Usually chalked up to the defence forcing a player offside. You especially only seem to see this exception come out when a player is literally skating in backwards.

Although, technically... its good?

True, but only because it's hard to determine that in real time. This is why I loathe video review for offsides. As I see it, there are two reasons why it isn't working

1) 99% of offsides gave no advantage to the scoring team. A centimeter here or there confers no advantage at all. If you say that all files need to be 100%, where's the cut off? It's no different than a hand pass that gets missed 3 minutes before the goal, or touched with a high stick, a missed penalty, etc. Why arbitrarily decide offside? We solved a problem that didn't really exist (maybe one of two memorable instances before the challenge) now we're limiting offense because of technicalities.

2) The challenge has made literally ten times more controversy. It has not improved integrity, clarified any rules or had any beneficial effect. More coaches are angrier, and no one knows what the rules are anymore. What's an offside? What's goalie interference? There's more grey now, not less

He also got demolished by Clifford. One of the best hits I've seen recently.

It was 3-1 after one period and 5-2 after two periods for the Kings. Versteeg scored 23 seconds into the game and then Brown just 67 seconds into the second period. Lecavalier has an assist and Lehtonen was pulled after the fourth goal.

Reimer looking shaky for the Sharks. Loui Eriksson bags a shorty. 2-1 Boston.

Don't want Reimer.

The Kings win 5-2 as they are now just two points back of the Stars and Blues for first place in the western conference.
