Also no Mason McDonald, even though he was drafted quite high. Not that it really matters anymore.

Much better list than the HF abomination. Overall looks fine. I'm fine not having goalies high on the list until they start to play pro hockey, because they are pretty unpredictable and take forever to develop. You could make minor adjustments but I think they have our highest upside skaters there. Decent looking depth considering how many young guys are already on the Flames.

And 4 picks in the first two rounds as potential ammunition for this years draft.

With 3 first round picks in 2013 they nailed the Monahan pick but it would have been nice to get another top player. Not saying Poirier is a bust as he will likely get a shot at being an NHL player but Klimchuk is looking like a disappointment.

I think Klimchuk has had his development slowed a bit by injuries so far in his career. I also think his upside might not be as high as some others so he naturally is ranked lower for that. He seems like a probable 3rd line winger so far. Getting a good 3rd liner would still be solid for picking at the bottom end of the first round since the bust rate around there is like 50+%.

That said the other guy they flew in for interviews that year was Nic Petan I believe who ended up going 2nd round to WPG. He's having an okay year in his rookie AHL year and has seen a few NHL games as well.

Too early to say on those kids. Gonna need a couple more years to tell on guys like Poirier, Klimchuk, Shinkaruk, Petan.

I'm not loving our prospect cupboard these days. We need to have a big 2016 draft

That Klimchuk pick should have been used on Hartman.
Hindsight I guess... Who knows where Klimchuk would be today without all of the injuries these last 3 years.

speaking of Mangiapane, he has 1G, 1A, +2 after 2 periods tonight (Andersson is 0G, 1A, +1)

I'm a little bit surprised Bill Arnold is still so high up. He has very limited upside and is already only 2 months away from being 24. If he's not on the big squad full time by the end of next season he is starting to tread into non-prospect territory.

For those of you that don't go to the Back Burner Forum, Mangiapane had 2G and an A again tonight.

In his last 23 games: 29G, 21A, 50P, 2.17PPG

For the year: 50G, 51A, 101P in 56 games, 1.80PPG

This is definitely one season where I'd like to see a full year-long highlight reel on Mange.
