It's not a lack of effort, it's Monahan's weak skating. He needs to spend this off-season just working on skating, nothing else.

Fun game to watch. Loved the Flames effort, even from some of the players who I haven't liked much this season like Colborne and Jooris. Can't believe Bouma missed that open net, great play by Bennett and Colborne on the cycle there.
Ortio was solid again. That wouldn't have been an easy game to play as the Flames pretty much only gave up decent-to-great scoring chances in the second half of the game and he kept the Flames in it.
Giordano was spectacular keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Hudler's absence is extremely obvious as Frolik just isn't a first line guy and doesn't suit their line.
OT was terrible but short so oh well. Happy with the effort. Go Flames Go!

That's how 3 on 3 OT goes...team that has the puck first usually gets a great chance and it either goes in or goes the other way for a great chance
I wouldn't read too much into defensive play during 3 on 3 OT its river hockey and SJ has some pretty big boys on the ice

I was being facetious.
It was a good game. The only thing that annoys me is that these losses aren't worth that much - increasing the Flames' odds of a higher draft pick by tiny little fractions.
But it was a fun one to watch. Particularly liked Hathaway and Hamilton's games tonight.

Only saw the first, did Gaudreau get better? Didnt like what I saw in the first. Really want to see him finish strong but he seemed to be fighting the puck the last few games.

Literally the only bad thing about the game was the final result. Flames owned the Sharks the entire game except for the very end. Hathaway was a monster. What a game by him. That misconduct on him was BS. What exactly was it for?? For getting high sticked in the face and then getting checked after the whistle? Ridiculous.
The boys should be proud of themselves. Jones put in a Vezina-like performance and it could have easily been 7-1.
The Sharks are my favorite team to play, bar-none. Always exciting games and the fans are always into it. Even though the Sharks are the bigger team, the Flames always seem to play 15 lbs heavier and the games always have an edge. Fans got their money's worth tonight.

I consider the Flames lucky so far when it comes to their top 10 picks in the rebuild. The first year we get Monahan who has been great scoring 21+ all 3 years in the league already wearing a letter. The next year Sam Bennett somehow slips past the Sabres and Oilers and lands in our lap (and getting a top 4 pick in a draft where 4 players were clearly at the top was fortunate). I think the Flsmes either win a top 3 pick or the player they choose turns out to be a stud.

My point being the Flames have NEVER drafted top 3 in franchise history...for them to finish last or 2nd last and not draft top 3 would be a burn
especially when the Oilers win it again!

I was on about San Jose, not us. We weren't in the market for a goalie, so why would I have been on about us?

That high stick by Burns on Hathaway was vicious and, IMO, intentional. Dirty play.

What do you mean re: Talbot? Didn't the Oilers give up multiple picks for him?
Talbot or Jones are exactly the kind of goalies the Flames could use. Jones is preferable simply because he is younger and in theory still developing. A late first seems like a fair trade for a young starter. If the Dallas pick turns into a first rounder, I would happily trade it for a Martin Jones.

They gave up:

For a goalie who was as good as Talbot was last season (and has been this season) that was a steal IMHO.
That said we wouldn't have Oliver Kylington then.

Flames dominate, but lose 2-1 to the Sharks in OT.

we should have been in the market for a goalie obviously
there were plenty of rumors about the Flames upgrading their goal tending last Summer and its obvious they should have
not sure what your on but I would gladly trade a mid 1st for Jones
