Anyone else there please add or correct. Surely I completely misunderstood some points.

Thanks again to the Flames for putting these on once or twice a year.

Current season
- Hartley and Treliving view the season as a disappointment - goal was always to make the playoffs. They expect to make the playoffs every year. That said, they haven't lost sight of the long-term goal which is to be a Stanley Cup contender every single year.
- Last season every single bounce went the Flames way. Wouldn't say it publicly, but knew things wouldn't go that way this year. But with roster changes they expected to improve regardless.

.................................................. .................................................. ...

- The downside is their signings have turned okay contracts (mentioned Smid, Stajan by name) into bad contracts.
I edited out a bunch of other stuff in that quote.

And here:

Burke has also gone on record in the past saying he doesn't believe in buying-out contracts.

He has stated that he believes you've made a commitment to the player, and he has made a commitment to the team, and both sides should honour those commitments.

Has he been a healthy scratch this season? He's played 63 of 65 games but don't recall if he missed any due to injury. Regardless he's dressed in almost every game

I think he was scratched within the last couple weeks. There was also a game where it was planned but didn't happen IIRC. But it's rare. He's needed on the PK.

Yeah it was a day of scratching where Hartley said he had a change of heart and slid Jooris in I think. Not too long ago.

Sure. But the problem is, Burke is not the Flames GM anymore. It's ultimately not his call in the end whether to buyout or not buyout. Burke may personally feel that way and can have some influence in helping and advising Treliving to make managerial decisions since Burke is the president of hockey operations, but Burke ultimately can't make that call to buyout or not buyout a player because that job belongs to Treliving the GM.

Maybe we'll find out if Treliving shares this same principle as Burke on this or not.

They bought out Shane O'Brien.
