Ortio was really good, but I'm not sure that he should be let off the hook on the first goal. His job is to track the puck and he totally lost where it was off the missed shot. Bad luck, but if he knew it was coming back that way he hugs the post and it doesn't get behind him.

I just wish they'd put Bennet on the top line with 13 and 23. I want this guy developing with high-skill linemates, not getting dumbed down by Colborne and Bouma.

The guy's a potential Peter Forsberg and we're trying to turn him into Stephane Yelle.

Pens fans must be livid, the Flames have embarrassed them twice this season.

It wasn't a missed shot. It was a deflection off Engelland's skate that caused to completely and randomly change trajectory into, and out of, the boards.

  • 7 game losing streak
  • Afternoon game
  • Have never won at the Consol Energy Center
  • One win in Pittsburgh since the late 80s
  • Pittsburgh scores in the first minute from a bad bounce off the boards
  • Monahan & Gaudreau each with no points and a -1

Not exactly the perfect recipe for a 4-2 win.

That's not going to happen. If you want Bennett to learn to be a centre he has to play there, and you're not moving Monahan to the wing.

I think Ortio just needs a run of games. Hes not there yet but the potential seems there.

Also, I like this Jokipakka character.

Good win. Bennett, Backlund, Monahan, this is the best centre depth we've had in a long time. Bodes well for the future given the ages of those lads.

Really nice slap pass there by Hamilton. Really liked Ferland today, thought he was doing a lot of positive things. Colborne was looking better than usual. Nice to see Bouma pot a goal, hopefully that gets him going offensively. Hathaway is still engaged.

Hope Nakladal is okay. If he isn't I'd imagine Wotherspoon is on his way up.

I agree. He turned the wrong way on that one.

He played great for the remaining 59 minutes though

Doesnt help out our draft pick chances but I dont care! I like to win!

Boys played a good game, Ortio was solid. I love Hathaway, he seems to pump up Ferland.

Didnt like Kevins hit in the back, didnt like it that he was beat often wide, but I do like his physical game. I am surprised he is so physical, its what we need.

Man I hope Nak is ok. High stick like that is dangerous as hell. He has been quite good and I hope his chance does not end due to a highstick like that. By reports it sounds like he is ok, I really hope he is.

Johnny and Monny had bad games. Johnny was really bad. He made some really sweet D plays but that was after some really bad passes he made.

If you can play well with those guys, you're gonna play well with more skilled players. Plus he needs to be brought in easy at centre, like Monahan. If he plays with Gaudreau he's also gonna get top lines to play against and he isn't ready for that, defensively.

Give Ortio more chances to play out some games the rest of this season and earn himself a contract as the backup.
