Yes, I think this is a much better return than the Polak deal.
I think Russell is a better player than Polak mind you, but even so, I think the return for Russell is better.
A
\ a sub 25 year old NHL contributing defender on an entry level deal is an extremely valuable asset.

If the Oilers are drafting #2 or #3 I think trading down to #4 or #5 to draft Chychrun makes a lot of sense. They don't need another winger, they need top pairing d-men and Chychrun looks NHL ready.

Crazy that Russell gets more than Iginla even with the NMC. Feaster botched that so bad.
The bouwmeester trade was even worse but I think this is a discussion for another thread.

How would you feel going from a playoff team to a lottery pick team?
Give him games playing with Hamilton and he will feel better

If they included Pollock, the least we could have done was include polak.

NHL general managers aren't faultless and immune to error. We should know that as well as anyone.
Kris Russell's performance down the stretch and into the playoffs may be the most interesting storyline to end the season.

Depends on the teams drafting top 3 and their lists. If they need D and are looking at Chychrun, then maybe they'd do a 1-2 spot swap to pick up the extra asset if they know they'll get their guy at that spot.
