Angling Without A Proper Licence In Ontario! Damn.

Ok, here's the deal...I went fishing this morning with a couple cousins for fun (our once a year thing), and I bought a licence last year which I thought was a 3 year one. Turns out, it was not, but it expires in 2007. Problem is, you have to buy a renewal sticker for like $15 or so, which I had no idea about. So I'm fishing there, and a conservation officer pulls up to the dock in a boat and asks for everyone's licence. I show mine, and he looks at the back and say, "it's not expired, but you haven't gotten the sticker renewed for this year". I tell him, I bought it last year and I thought it was for a 3 year term. Apparently not, and I was given a $155 ticket for a $15 issue (and you don't even have to take a "test" to get these fishing licences). I hope this is not one of those criminal type things that can screw you down the road. What a stupid thing. And we were just casual fishers. No warning or anything, just a bold ticket. My cousins got away with it because they bought theirs this year. Anyone else had a problem like this and know if it could be averted in court? This seriously sucks.
