id do 2 seconds for yakupov. people are forgetting that he has always played with scrubs like lander and hendricks, hows thats supposed to help develop confidence in young players? The 2 times he was paired with offensive minded centres (mcdavid and roy) he produced very well. Just because hes russian and an oiler doesnt mean hes lazy and a cancer. He has a great shot and with gaudreau feeding him i think he can put up 30 goal seasons. A really good player to try out for the open RW spot. With a real organization developing him i think he can do good.

I suspect that was Granlund this year.

The granlund deal wasn't that big of a deal at all. I think a bigger fish gets dealt by the flames, someone with more term.

I think to trade Wideman, given the fact that trade deadline is before arbitrator decision, they may have to get very creative with conditional picks

I would love Nail Yakupov in Calgary if all it took was a 2nd rounder. Especially the 2nd we just got from Florida. Plenty of time still for Yaks career to turn around and become a 20-30 goal scorer. He's just been in a bad environment. But I will admit I'm Russian, so I got a soft spot for all Russian players lol

No way the Oilers trade Yakupov to Calgary unless we have the highest offer. Similar to Sven if we have by far the best offer we might get him otherwise they will likely ship him out east. Why risk getting burned by an ex player figuring it out on your arch rival

I believe in the Pony Power
|
The Oilers wouldn't risk trading Yakupov to their provincial rivals. Too much potential for it to bite them in the arse

Might not be that big of a deal, but Granlund is better than Berra and Baertschi.

the chances of Yak becoming a decent NHLer are far greater than an average 2nd rounder becoming a decent NHLer...you do that deal all day long, Oilers probably don't give us that deal though. Getting one of their first overalls for a 2nd would be worth it just for the laugh
If that is actually the asking price bring in some 3rd party team...they trade a 2nd for him and trade him to Calgary for their higher 2nd

They're hoping Brossoit will pull that on us.
Key word is hoping.

Id love if a team gave the oilers a 3rd for yak then that team trades him to the flames for a second lol. I could see something crazy like that happening with him.
I have the day off tomorrow so I'm praying some crazy stuff goes down.

Im probably in the minority, but I hope the Flames dont trade Colborne. He's a pretty decent 3rd line player at a favourable age and cap hit going forward.
I would rather keep him over Jooris, Jones, Stajan, and Bollig.

Any chance there is a market for Jones at all? Conditional late round pick?
I will be surprised if any of our bad contracts are dealt tomorrow. I could see Colborne dealt though. I actually think he could fetch a decent return since he will not have UFA status at end of year. Even another 2nd rounder?

So would a lot of people, but nobody wants any of the players you just listed.

I think you will see some movement on the other guys. Can see teams taking on Jones at half price for a minimal return. Even Hiller as g insurance. Going to be interesting.

Will likely have to retain salary, but at least they're gone at the end of the year. Wouldn't mind seeing that with Jones and Hiller. Wideman, Raymond and Bollig would be a more difficult sell though.
