I think the NHL is moving towards an Trade Deadline week, given that some GMs like to jump out ahead of the frenzy

What is the message you send - make him captain, lock him up long term, and ship him out within a year?
Not a good way to be a desirable destination

Not the NHL, the franchise authority. But rather the NHL as the league in general and it's parts. So people within the NHL are moving towards getting ahead of the frenzy

Given that Reimer got basically a fourth, I don't see Hiller getting us anything. Unless somehow Florida needs someone for the Montoya injury. We would have to eat 50% too.

Possible Kris Russell Destinations:
Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals are among the teams eyeing Russell.
Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers. and Tampa Bay Lightning appear to have interest in Russell

BOS and Eriksson still negotiating. 4 x 5.25m seems like a VERY decent offer to me.
Boston Bruins @NHLBruins
Sweeney said he has had discussions w/ other teams about Eriksson but "my preference has been all along to try and sign him, go from there."
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
It's believed Boston's last offer on Eriksson was 4 yrs, $5.25 mil per. Could be a year or two and just under $1 mil per yr light.

Of course the Bruins want to sign him. Otherwise Seguin will look like the most flopped trade ever.

The one thing that makes me believe that a trade similar to that isn't impossible, is Dallas has a recent history of making a lot of win now trades, and need help on defense to make a deep run, which they appear poised to do.
The conditions are prime.

Florida's 2nd? I would do that. Would help address our need on the right side, add size and skill to the lineup, and add another top six player. Add one of the Finns from the upcoming draft and we're looking pretty damn good. Just need to address the goaltending situation via free agency and we could be pretty scary in short order.

I don't think they have a prayer against Chicago or LA, Russell or not.

Would you accept anything less if the tables were turned? Would you take less than that for Bennett?
