A 2nd seems about Hudler's value given he played like crap for the first half the year. He's small, not speedy, but very skilled. Has tremendous chemistry with the very skilled Johnny and Monny but I really question how well he'll fit in on another team if they don't have similarly skilled players who can do nice touch passes, give and gos, with Hudler. Hudler hasn't looked good this year when not with Johnny and Monny and hasn't shown he can carry a line or drive play strictly by himself.
DET should really pick him up again, he needs to play with a Datsyuk/Zetterberg type. Hudler's game is better when playing with really smart, really skilled players.

A contender's 2nd isn't too exciting unless they have an extra one from a bottom feeder. I'd rather take a prospect

Before the all star game weren't we questioning if he could even get a 2nd? I might do some digging to verify. So if he wasn't worth a 2nd before he was playing well, suddenly his value jumps from a 3rd to a 1st over a couple weeks? That doesn't seem right.
Some people seem to think the Ladd trade means Hudler should go for more but they aren't really comparable players.

Just saying: The fact they are protecting Russell but don't seem to be caring too much about Hudler getting injured seems to hint that Hudler has a lot less trade value.

Stan is all in, #Blackhawks working hard on Hamhuis, according to sources. He'd have to waive no-trade.

Personally I don't think Hudler was ever worth only a 3rd round pick.
Going rate for a scoring winger at the deadline is usually at worst a 2nd and maybe a 3rd (Glencross, Jagr, Stewart, etc all got that last year).
I'm not saying I think Hudler gets more then a first, I just feel it would be foolish for the Flames to only be asking for a 2nd at this point in time.
Also we are not saying he is a direct comparable to Ladd but really if Ladd gets a top prospect, a 1st and a 3rd then Hudler should get more then just a 2nd.
If Hudler was available for just a 2nd he would be traded already IMO.

Think of it this way - The Hawks just gave up a 1st to get Ladd, and I don't think they have another one this year. If they're going after Hamhuis, it may suggest the market for Russell is a first, and Hawks just can't offer that anymore for obvious reasons. I think the asking price is a 1st for Russell for sure now.
Hello Dallas, Pittsburgh or Los Angeles.

So you just know that Russell and Hudler are getting traded this afternoon and into tonight when the server migration is happening right...

What's the list of upcoming UFA forwards and where does Hudler fall on that list?
I think the supply and demand drives the trade return more than Hudler's start to the season.
Every GM knows they're going to get a great room guy who's won before and has offensive zone prowess and can finish.
How many guys are rental types that suit that dynamic. Not many I would guess.
Any team sitting 2-10 in their conference is likely in need of 1 more top 6 fwd. I don't see how there won't be a huge demand for Hudler in the next 24-48 hours. This weekend's games will determine if the market gets flooded with available wingers too though.

Would CHI be stupid enough to give up Pokka for Hamhius?

Hurler's not coming off an injury though. Isn't it relatively rare for teams to healthy scratch players for multiple games before the trade deadline? I don't think this is related to trade value at all.

before the Ladd trade, Jason Botchford was saying that something around Vrbata/Hamuis for a 1st/Pokka was being discussed by the two teams

Wouldn't salary have to go back the other way? Thought with the Ladd trade the Hawks were up against the cap?

Really similar situation as Cammalleri.
Hudler has been hot garbage for 35 games or so, is small and didn't perform well in the playoffs last year.
