I despise the style of defence where the d-man ignores the forward and instead tries to block the shot. What's the point of even having a goalie in that scenario, he can't see anything if the puck gets by you.

It's not as bad as the swarm but Hartley's defensive system indeed sucks.

Flames look like they're having a competition to see who can hold on to the puck the least.
I understand that maybe they're trying to move the puck quickly (to avoid getting hit?), but they still need to try and make a smart play.

Combo of Ortio cheating a little deep and Brodie and Giordano not being up to the task. Gaudreau can even have a little bit of the blame on that one.
I'm not into the "if Hiller" comments. I think posters have been justified in their frustration with Hiller.

Yup. Ortio was playing well by standing in his crouch and tracking the puck. His defender wasn't doing their job by getting body position on Lecav.
Hiller just drops to his and shuffles around.l
