As long as we get one of them, I'm good.

dammage79 was talking about Laine having a better shot in the post you replied to.

Laine has a heavier body and likes physical play more, better stick handling, better coordination. Great hand-eye. Just a more powerful attacker, enjoys challenging defenders.

Puljujärvi might be starting to be able to use his very good shot more, but Laine's shot is just great.

I definitely want Laine over Puljujarvi.
Way easier to spell.

But also, I think he reminds me a little bit of Corey Perry.
Big, physical, but offensively gifted, and seems like he has a bit of an attitude.

When your shot is being compared to Ovechkin and Stamkos, it's not just a shot. It's the kind of shot that comes around once every five-eight drafts.

I'd say most scouts would not agree with your assessment that Puljujarvi is better in every other department than the shot. Why do you say this? Laine seems to be creeping towards consensus #2 and scouts are saying he's the only player who might challenge Matthews

There should be zero gap between the two. They play slightly different games but Puljujarvis vision and Hockey I.Q are better. Smarter players find greater success at the NHL level.

Maybe I should be clear here. I love what Laine is, is more what the Flames need with his more aggressive offensive flare. But to discount what Puljujarvi brings to the table is legitimately confusing.

All I am saying is, it's not a 2 person tier 1. It's a 3 person tier 1 and then the light drop.

I think Puljujarvi the drives the play more so than Laine. There aren't too many wingers even at the NHL level who can do that (think benn, johnny, kane, wheeler).

I personally prefer Puljujarvi, but the shooting/finishing ability of Laine is ridiculous. Just imagine Johnny setting him up for next 10years

No matter how you skin it any of the top 3 picks would be a slam dunk.

I remember reading/hearing a quote (possibly on here, might have heard it on HNIC or something, can't remember) from a scout that said he wouldn't be shocked, nor would he blame a team, if they drafted Laine 1st overall.

I want the flames to be in the top 3 picks. I honestly think someone owes us something and it would be a great way to stick it to the oilers. Any of those guys would really help the flames and I don't know which I'd take first at this point

We can't out-tank the tankers so I'm accepting the fact we won't get either of the Finns. We're probably picking 5-10 thanks to the tankers and an inevitable late season, meaningless run by the team.

Flames odds at 6.6% for a first. Greasers at 15%.

Even if we don't finish top 3 we'll have some really great options!

Chychrun, Tkachuk, of my personal favourite, Dubois! Any of those three would help us take a big step forward in our rebuild.

For me after the big 3 it's Nylander, Mcleod, Juolevi, Gauthier then Dubois. Chychrun is good but I like Juolevi more even though I am fully aware Chychrun is the better prospect. Just so many great RW/C options out there before the Flames consider a D man I hope.

Gauthier is appealing if the Flames draft in the 6-10 range. Huge, fast, shoot-first player would balance out Calgary's right side. Might be 240lbs by the time he's in the NHL, which might not be long given his physical characteristics.

Definitely a few consolation prizes in the pack.

Sergachev too! Man, thats a sold top ten-11. I got zero love for Tkachuk though, every time I watch him I'm left wanting more.

If the Oilers finish last, what are the odds that they don't draft top 3? I'd guess like 5-10%?
