As a fan boy GM this is when you trade him because the goal is to always have lots of assets so you can threaten everyone else with how awesome your team will be in two years, but never actually have a good team.

Good to hear, wasn't that long ago when you knew any good player on the team would be skipping town by the time they turned 26 because ownership couldn't afford good players anymore.
What could we possibly get in a trade that would be as good of a piece as Johnny?

This is what my friend said in junior high after Iginla scored 20 goals for the first time.

It'll be interesting to see who gets a bigger contract, Gaudreau or Nathan McKinnon. I think Gaudreau will get the bigger deal, but I wonder how much the Avs will sign McKinnon for.

Honest question, what exactly would you consider a good return for Gaudreau?

There aren't many comparable players that come to mind.

That's how I read it too... I don't think they're being serious at all. They said "as a fantasy GM" not what a real GM should do.

If they were being serious.......

Honestly... a gimmick account created solely for the purpose of insulting/shaming people who don't meet mr High Horses standards is pretty lame. Should be renamed to, this account is terrible.

I think they will likely go long term, but a bridge deal isn't necessarily meant to be an insult to the player. Pretty sure Burke has mentioned in the past that he still thinks the bridge deal makes sense. Perhaps not for Johnny, but you never know.

Exactly, the bridge deal is the perfect contract for Monahan. We know that your part of this teams future, but we need to see if you can consistently bring your game every night. If you can do it within the span of the bridge deal than you earn your long term deal.

Who cares what you get for Gaudreau.. point is that he'll never be worth more than he is today!!!

Seriously how often have posters panned Daryl Sutter for not trading Iginla in 2008? Signing Gaudreau is good. But at some point in time someone will complain about the Flames not maximizing his trade value....My point is to show how crazy it would be to trade him now. Even though his value is at a peak level.

Since it seems lost on a few...no I'm not saying trade Gaudreau. I'll be damn happy to sign him long term. It will be great news when it happens.

The bridge deal is meant for players that haven't broken out yet when their ELC is up. Johnny is a point per game player, he's not getting a bridge.
