Tyler Bozak is Matt Stajan v.2.0. Inflated stats due to high 1st line ice time on the Leafs.

(unless he is the bad contract we must take on to acquire the player we were really after in the first place?)

To me, Bozak is the current version of Matt Stajan from 2010. If the Flames are indeed targeting someone from the Leafs, I think Kadri is probably the best.
His value is relatively low right now, but he has the pedigree to be a top 6 forward. The guy scored at a point per game clip a few seasons ago. He's still young, is a bit of an irritant on the ice.
I think a second line of Bennett and Kadri would be quite difficult to play against. Throw Ferland in on that LW to protect the two of them and give them some space.
He does have a bit of a childish demeanor and lacks maturity but I thinK Giordano could straighten him out when he picks up from the airport.
He strikes me as a buy low, but with high reward type acqusition.
Maybe a Granlund, Bouma, and a 2nd tier prospect for Kadri?

we also do not need another center, especially a middle of the road center like Bozak when we have Stajan and Backlund

I could get on board with this, less media hounding him everyday might help as well with his childish attitude

Unless he has seriously matured since being a Knight you really want to stay away from Kadri. I won't get into details but he is most certainly not the type of guy I want in our locker room unless he has really changed.

OMG Montreal PLEASE TRADE SUBBAN.
Please. I have friends who are Habs fans.....I'd never let them live it down!
Let it be so. My only concern is death by hysterical laughter.

Trade Proposal:
To Hawks: Hudler & Russell (50% retained on both)
To Flames: 2016 1st, Pokka, Hartman
DO the Hawks look at this if they are out of the Ladd sweepstakes? Ladd, or a player like that, is a far better fit with Toews/Hossa and is who I think they end up chasing.
That said, do the Hawks hang up the phone on this deal?

I think you can move Bozak to RW and provide FO support for Bennett. Bozak does have success with players that make their line mates better. He's faster than Stajan and has better finish.
EDIT: JEbus! Why not get Bozak!? His faceoff stats are Better than anyone on the Flames by a fair stretch.
Bozak: 883 taken, 510 won, 373 lost, good for 57.8% on the dot.
Monahan: 1,177 taken, 586 won, 591 lost, good for 49.8 on the dot.
Backlund: 788 taken, 381 won, 407 lost, good for 48.4%.
Stajan: 585 taken, 272 won, 313 lost, good for 46.5%.
It's not even close! It makes perfect sense to trade for the guy.

Pokka I feel is next to impossible to move for them. They're going to have to re-stock the D up on the big club soon enough and I think....I might be wrong here but I think Pokka is next in line.

I think they do hang up, that is too much they are giving up.

He is also a lightweight and not a natural winger. We can do better than Bozak.

Just say no to Bozak. I'm not sure he does much to improve the team's future, especially if we had to give up any future assets.

Maybe... But you have to admit that checks off all the boxes for Chicago as they start a push for a 4th cup in 7 years. Maybe if we changed it to 25% retained for both Huds and Russell and we take Bickell's contract on. Its a big bodied right winger that can replace what we lose in Jones next year. I think Chi-town might consider that.

I edited my post earlier post to include his faceoff stats vs the rest of the Flames C's. It's a big gap. Good enough reason for me to understand why the Flames would trade for Bozak if they did. Seriously, thats a big answer up the middle. We need a Yelle type FO guy and Bozak ha the numbers to back it up.

Cost of acquisition for a 57-58% faceoff guy is usually never cheap. But since it's the leafs and they're clearing house like never before, I think he's of big use to the Flames regardless of your concern for his stature.
EDIT: And compared to say Colborne who is this years version of the goat, I think Bozak plays smarter than him. Might not own the boards but if you pair him with Bennett, things round out evenly.

I think Hudler and Russell packaged up in a deal to Dallas makes more sense than to Chicago.
1. Hudler would slot into their top six easily, as he'd be their 3rd best winger behind only Sharp and Benn.
2. Russell would slot in as probably their 5th best D-man, and as we know can fill in top 4 no problem for extended periods of time. Good insurance against an injury to a top 4 Dman there.
3. Both fit under the cap easily this season.
4. Both are UFA's so no long term commitment is looming, but the option is there if the fit is solid as Dallas has cap room next season as well.

Really curious what comes of a Flames/Leafs trade if it happens.
