I'm not sure you can say anything past the point of the All-Star game would be a knee jerk reaction.

100% on goaltending.
You can't out coach bad goaltending.
And players play differently when they have no confidence in the goalie. And it's never for the better. Remember all those backups Kipper had? The team played completely different when the backup was in, and it was always bad.

Disagree. If not for a lot of solid goaltending efforts this season, the Oilers goals against would be every bit as bad as the last few seasons.

The league really has figured out Gaudreau and how to play him. Not suggesting for a second he still isn't a very dynamic player, or that he won't elevate his game further, but in December, he was looking like he might be one of the best players in this league, just dominating, gaining the zone and skating circles around the defenders.
League wide they've really stopped sitting back and are just challenging him in the neutral zone, standing him up at the blue line and taking away all of his time.

The goaltending is bad but so is the defence, this is brutal team defence. In general the team as a whole is just not very good and hopefully there are some changes coming. Size and talent are still needed.

I would never say 100%.
But I agree that goaltending has been the #1 problem. And as you say, it changes the way people play, and erodes confidence.

And top 10 in league scoring. I could go on and on.
Weird post from CSW.

From NHL head office to all referees. Need more scoring, don't be afraid to call penalties. Too bad for teams with poor special teams, but that's the way it goes. We need to attract more fans from warm climates.

Flames have allowed 4+ goals 24 times this season. That's not all on the goalies, but the goalies have not been good this season. Even average goaltending (like the Flames received last season) and this team is still in the playoff chase.
/As for your trade request 43, that's pretty lopsided. I'll throw in TJ Brodie to even it out.

Unless the players suddenly got worse, I don't think all of the experts were completely wrong about the talent level.
1) goaltending has been brutal. BRUTAL.
2) I hate the style of team defense they play - too passive
3) some bad play from the players - Giordano started bad; Hamilton started bad; Wideman has had an off year.
I would put it in that order

Oh I'm not saying it's all the defenses fault, but if they're a top 3 defense they don't allow that many scoring opportunities either.
Put it another way. No great defenses are allowing that many chances per game, are they?

Understood, thus my comment on him being a dynamic player, but are you telling me you see him dominating the games the way he did in December, beyond tonight?
Just saying they are really taking away his zone entries lately, and all the amazing plays he was making earlier in the year. The fact he's finding ways to get his points still is a very very positive sign.

The flames get even average NHL quality goaltending they win this game and Gaudreau is a game Star.
