it's crazy that the flames could be bottom 3 of the league (points wise) by the time they play next.

The team to catch for the playoffs will be SJ. Anaheim has basically been themselves point wise since November, and they will probably continue on that pace. So that leaves the Flames 11 points out with a game in hand.
On the flip side, they are 2 points ahead of CBJ and are tied with everyone else. A regulation loss tomorrow makes it a 6 way tie for 30th.

Say what? The Sharks are going to keep playing at a decent rate. The teams to catch are the Preds and Wild. The Flames are 8-9 points back of them and also have 2-3 games in hand on those teams. Like Machiavelli said, the 5 games in hand on the Avs, watch for the Avs to be smothered by an avalanche of teams passing them.

The race for 30th is starting to get interesting. You look at how bad Columbus is but they are right behind the Flames, Oilers, Jets.

I think the oilers might elevate their game from being gawd awful all the way to not good and get to the middle of the pack and may actually end up drafting outside of the top 10 this year!

I'm pretty sure today is the first time this season that the top 3 Pacific division teams have more points than the two WC teams.

The Central have fallen hard. Win our next two and we are only 3 points off pace.

Unfortunately the Coyotes, Wild and Canucks are already on pace so we would need 4 out of the 5 teams that are currently on pace for the wild card to fall off as well. That's where the problem lies.
The Flames have lost control of their own destiny (for all intents and purposes) thanks to their play since December.
