Molson takes it on the chin

Due to their ability to jump feet first into the Brazilian beer market, Molson takes a huge loss this quarter. I guess the only good thing about Maca Bavaria is the commercials.

I think their beer is the base for most American beers. Seriously though, its all a matter of opinion, but I'm with you, its swill.

They supposedly got as big as they could in Canada and to expand they had to look to other things, hence buying the Brazilian co. Did they ever end up merging with Coors?

Yes, they agreed on a deal with Coors, but apparently this Brazilian thing is just killing them. Right from day one, as soon as they bought Maca Bavaria, the Brazilian market went into the tank for some reason.

I agree, Big Rock is far ahead of Molson. But tell that to the people in Ontario. It's not a big brew out here. At the beer store, I had to show the guy the bottle off the wall after telling him 5 times I wanted grasshopper before he got it. He was like "Wow, didn't even know we had that, no one has ever ordered it before". Everyone in line behind me:
"What kind of beer is that?
"Is it new?"
"Probably some newfie beer that tastes like crap"
"Is it an import"

Well, I had to explain to all the leaf lovers what the beer was, where I was from, and why it was so different from most beers they like (which is basically Canadian).

Sure is great though walking up to a till, ordering beer, and have it come down the rollers out of the back room for you. Haven't seen that in looong time.

I agree, Big Rock is far ahead of Molson. But tell that to the people in Ontario. It's not a big brew out here. Traditional Ale is quite popular here in London, but its all word of mouth, there is virtually no marketing for it at all.

I'm assuming London, Ontario not England?

If Big Rock has made it as far east as Ontario maybe I'll be get it in Quebec sometime soon. I've looked a few times, but I can't find it here.

That's a good point, but as far as I can recall Sleemens has English labels on it(around the neck of the bottle). I'll have to look more losely next time I have one.

Last time I did the big rock tour (Twice now), they said that they do sell a lot in Quebec, but almost primarily in kegs. So I'm sure if you go to the right pubs you'll be able to find it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up of finding bottles.

Also, note I prefer Big Rock over Canadian, not ALL beer. But Traditional Ale is up their among my favorites.

I like Big Rock's Kold. Most here seem to like the darker beers though, so you'll all probably not like it much.
