Iowa doesn't predict GOP very well - especially in such a wide open field. The real story is how much damage Sanders can do to Clinton.

He's gonna sue Ted Cruz first thing tomorrow on the Canadian thing if he loses. I'm just surprised it appears Cruz is getting a decent amount of votes from areas deemed more establishment.

It was unknown but also somewhat expected that Trump may not have a ground game. His support, as 538 put it the other day, is deep but narrow. I think it will come out that many who may have voted for him tonight had their dislike come to the fore when he skipped the debate and used "not treated fairly" by the media as an excuse. The cynic in me would suggest he skipped the debate to tank his chances as he was never truly serious.
Despite the apparent win by Cruz the Rubio showing may actually allow the GOP to kill both Cruz and Trump tonight. Rubio having a stronger than expected showing would seem to suggest that the establishment will finally get behind him and the endorsements will come in flurry over the next little while.

Breaking News: Martin O'Malley announces he will suspend his campaign.
I mean really, the guy has 0% of the democratic vote. Did his pollsters tell him he had a chance of winning or something? This can't be a surprise to him.

If the GOP really wants to win the white house, Rubio is the obvious choice. They have no idea how to connect with latin americans, which is a very large minority in the country now. Plus, Rubio isn't completely despicable, so there's that.

O'Malley was doing this for experience I think...many look for him to throw his hat in the ring 4 or 8 years from now.
Sanders being close could really help him moving forward but he still likely needs the Iowa win but it's unlikely at this point.

Good point on O'Malley.
Sanders may come from behind here. I think people have been writing him off for far too long as a fringe socialist candidate. The guy is a really gutsy politician who stands for principles, and people gravitate towards that more than the calculating politics of Clinton.
I would not be shocked at all to see Sanders as the nominee. Whether that's a good thing or not for the country is the most important question.

And on that point, why does the GOP still put such a big primary in Iowa if they have zero predictive power? If after this election, their primary winner doesn't become the nominee, will the GOP finally decide to ditch Iowa as a primary election? Based on changing country demographics, Florida would probably be a better place to hold a primary.

Cruz/Trump is still not settled as the anti-establishment opponent, but they have over half the vote combined. Trump will win New Hampshire and we'll still be in a three way race. Trump is definitely suing Cruz to get him out.

I disagree. I think the writing is on the wall for Trump. Just like the way Mike Huckabee and Michelle Bachman were leading polls in the past, but ultimately fell apart as candidates, Trump will go away at some point just like everyone predicted.
