The fighting in '94 with the pools of square polygon blood was the best part of that game.

Ah,Ea 94 was the best, many a late nights with that one.ME and the boys would have best of 7 series to see who did the dishes.Alot of battles. Our only rule was no "cheesy goals" cutting across the crease cause you'd score every time.

manual goalies can eat up the cheese goals, at least on the genesis version. there are some incredibly good players online, especially the finnish players. apparently there is a huge '94 following in finland as well. the gameplay changed in 95, and it all went downhill.

That's funny, I completely agree, it became more controlled, not as free flowing, or unpredictable.

We never had any problems with chessey goals, because if your opponent allowed them to happen, then they needed to practice more. Everything was fair game. That was one of the best parts of the game, you had to not only outplay your opponent's players, but usually had to do something unpredictable like a give and go, or an extremely well placed one timer to get it past his goalie because he was manually controlled too.

www.nhl94.com . This website has a roster update for the emulator (no joke) and you can even dump it onto a cart if you're hardcore. It has only 28 teams (there are 2 versions, and you can choose what group of 2 teams you want to omit) but otherwise, the rosters are 2006 trade deadline. Good stuff.

NHL 94? It's all about NHLPA 93 on the Genesis, baby. That's the one where a shot from just the right spot on the point would go in almost every time, IIRC. And glass-smashing shots were awesome.

That, or Nintendo's Ice Hockey. But I was too young to fully appreciate it back then.

My favourite hockey game was Wayne Gretzky's hockey on the PC in the early 90s. A very simple game graphically but the game play was outstanding...I always thought it had the most opportunity to have the game come down to the player's game skills.

every weekend my friends will drink and play "Championship" which is basically a weekly NHL94 tournament on SNES. The curent champion is kept track of but no other stats (like who won it the most). Makes for some fun to cheer on a player/team. It's a great game, and we all get a kick out of playing 94 on the SNES with the PS2 and NHL2Kwhatever sitting ontop of it.

There's an online league somewhere (played on SNES and Sega Roms - two different leagues). I forget the url, however I have two friends in it, and one who was runner up to the Stanley Cup last season.

Playing 94 on a SNES is blasphemy! You MUST play it on a Sega Genesis!

lol, the gameplay on SNES was a lot different though, for whatever reason. And the graphics were different too. It was like Mario on skates.

Yeah, I had only played it on SNES until recently. The Sega one was way more realistic. The Skating is really bad in the SNES version (you can ALWAYS beat an icing call with the 'body check' button)
