Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella fell down hard to the ice and was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons after a collision with forward Rene Bourque during an outdoor practice Friday, according to Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch.

That's the most physical Bourque's played in at least seven years.

This was brought up in the Tortorella hiring thread.
It's never good to see someone hurt but if he's out, I wouldn't be surprised to see the BJ's start to win again.
Just think of the newspaper headline possibilities though: Head BJ goes down!

Didn't Bourque also hit a coach with a puck during practice at some point?

Did you watch that game last night? Even the great Mike Babcock would have his work cut out for him trying to win with that group as that's not a very good team.

I do hope the best for John, but I just have to say this...
If there was ever a coach to get hit by his own player on purpose, it would be John Tortorella.
And if there was ever a player dumb enough to hit his coach (even by mistake), it would be Rene Bourque.

No way. Scotty Bowman for sure. Torts may be disliked by some players but Bowman was despised by many and Mike Keenan wasn't far behind.

Have they announced where they will have the team accountability apology yet? Or does Torts have to bench/scratch him first?

Taking a while to get to 5000
None of this would have happened had Torts shown up in shape.

Ya fair enough. I should of specified this only applying to active coaches. The 80's were a different era both in Hockey and what is socially acceptable to say/do.

No shock as Bourque always seemed to run into his own teammates. Low IQ player.
