Ovechkin gets 2 goals, including the OT game winner. He now sits at 499 career goals.

It was also Ovechkin's 800th career game. If he can score #500 in his next two games, he'll be the 5th-fastest player to 500 goals (behind Gretzky, Lemieux, Bossy, and Brett Hull). Phil Esposito hit #500 in 803 games.

It has been just over 4 years since the last player (Iginla) scored his 500th career goal (January 7, 2012).

Best pure goal scorer this game has ever seen.

Ovie is one of the all time greatest. Not much of an argument can be made against that. Congrats to that guy.

It's kind of depressing watching Kessel play with Malkin. Malkin just putting 10/10 saucer passes across the the ice with Kessel flubbing It.

I don't think I have seen 10 seconds of effective defensive zone coverage by the Lovejoy Domoulin pair.

Kessel did better when he was the one controlling the play.

The complaints to Rogers have increased this week with the past Wednesday television schedule and today's Leafs at Sharks game. The game is on at the wrong time! The better decision would be to have that game at 1900h Pacific and have two games during that time slot or have the game at 1300h Pacific to make for a true matinee. The Leaf fans in Ontario can have a game at 1600h or 2200h Eastern on a Saturday. I thought Rogers would be better at this than the CBC. The Canucks home game against the stinkin' Leafs is three hours early, respect the home team's time zone!

- Yzerman looking for a "young for young" trade regarding Drouin (Fabbri from St. Louis mentioned)
- Keith Yandle will be moved by the trade deadline (reportedly he doesn't want to sign an extension with the Rangers)
- Shattenkirk was rumored to go to Columbus as part of a trade for Johansen before the Preds stepped up to deal Jones. Look for other teams to call St. Louis regarding what they want for Shattenkirk
- 50/50 on Kindl being claimed (Detroit on a cap crunch with Franzen and Quincey coming back off IR)

In other news:

- No expansion vote at the All-Star game
- Changes to the all-star voting procedure for next year (fans may only control a portion of the vote or the league will present a list of available players).

Good to see the Leafs getting annihilated, they would have had a better chance if the game was scheduled three hours later.

The Penguins lead 2-1 early in the third period and it is 1-1 in the Bruins-Senators game.

Just out of curiosity, are you a Flames fan or just a general hockey fan? I appreciate everything you do here, but it's kind of weird how ona Flames message board you often minimize games that really affect the Flames in your OOT in favour of whatever match ups are on major networks. Or in this case, outright cheer for a team beating the Leafs.......that's in direct, and I mean DIRECT competition with the Flames for a playoff spot.

Obviously, if you're not a Flames fan then all of that is okay (other than it's slightly annoying to read for Flames fans that are hoping to make the playoffs), I guess I just always assumed you were a Flames fan and had it wrong?

San Jose scores the 5-0 goal, though Toronto challenged because Tierney entered the zone backwards.

Now that isn't offside if he has clear possession, which is what the review ruled happened. However when he actually crossed the blueline, he wasn't even touching the puck. I was under the impression you basically had to be dragging the puck in after yourself.

Apparently "control" over the puck doesn't mean you have to literally be touching the puck as you bring it over the blueline after yourself. Still such a strange rule.
