It wasn't entirely brown, but there wasn't enough snow on the roads to be considered winter driving. I recall this because with having so many family and friends who were relatively new to Calgary, they found it shocking that we didn't have a white Christmas.

For all the snow we got this week and how colds it's been, I'm pretty impressed with how less slippery the roads are today compared to yesterday. It's not perfect, but whatever they are using to de-ice the roads works pretty good. Even walking across a cross walk on foot isn't as slippery as it normally is.

Hah I didn't realize there was an official definition

A "white Christmas" is officially recognized by Environment Canada when there are at least two centimetres of accumulated snow on the ground at 5 a.m. on Christmas morning.

Just spent 3 hours ripping around running errands. The roads are fine. The people, however..OMG...Sorry Lady, just because you are in a truck bigger than you can handle, doesn't mean you get to totally ignore that red light. Not a light that was yellow, and turned red, it was a good 20 seconds after, just roll on through! No worries! We'll all just hit the brakes until you clear! Then when your done, go ahead and pull into that designated bus stop. I'm sure the bus will just find somewhere else to pull in.

And buddy, that flashing light on your dash isn't going to the beat of the music, it means you left your goramn signal light on. Turn it off!

Oh, the light turned green? No worries, just go ahead and finish whatever it is you are doing that isn't driving. We'll all wait here behind you will you figure out how to work the accelerator. Didn't want to make it through that light cycle anyway!

Most of the time I don't go to far from home, except when I go to the mountains, but today gave me a nice reminder of why I keep my shopping close. People are idiots, and they WILL crush you, it's just a matter of time. I have no idea how they got drivers licenses.

People have short memories. We barely god any snow last year. I use metal shovels and buy a new one every year as by spring they are about 1/3 or more worn. I'm still using the shovel from last year because I barely had to shovel and it was almost brand new. I was also wearing a fall coat from end of January right through to spring because it was warm and dry going into one of the nicer springs we have had in some time. Much more snow and colder this year.

I haven't noticed worse roads, but what I have noticed up in Central Alberta is the hoarfrost has been crazy this year.
