Top 6 on the Canucks only.

Encouraging news on Kylington. Hoping the Flames don't touch him for three years, let him really sit and develop in the AHL.

Not sure about getting Drouin, but this thread is sure getting me excited about Kylington again!

Who is a 21 yr old top 6 C? Certainly not Horvat and his 11 pts and -19 (looks like a guy that might need a Garmin to find his own end).

But if you are talking about Horvat, then yes, I easily trade him for a 20 yr old that puts up a 0.5 points per game with 10 mins of ice time avg. When they are in their primes Drouin will have more points by all star weekend than Horvat will put up in a season.

There is a good possibility that Drouin is a straight up game breaker at the NHL level. I want that. You can keep all the 45 point, 2 way centers you want.

Just made the easy, simple play every time - the things that made Lidstrom great for example. I would define Hickey as untouchable at this instant. His game is incredibly mature and I think he's the closest of the three to playing at the NHL level
I am keen on Hickey and hope we keep and develop him, but of the 3 in question, I would probably put him 3rd.

Hickey made tons of mistakes at the WJC, IMO. Not sure if that is his usual style or something the coaches wanted, but I found his game way too passive. He had good stick work, but rarely engaged physically and almost never jumped into the play offensively. I thought he left the heavy lifting to Fleury, for the most part.

That probably sounds overly critical, but he wasn't that great at the WJC.

I would too. We are really deep on defense, and some of them will have to be moved anyways at some point.

And most likely at least one won't be an NHLer

BREAKING: HABS CH
I can confirm from a strong source the Habs are aggressively pursuing Drouin.

Habs are likely on Yzerman's no go list though.

The Lightning just beat the Canadiens in a hard fought playoff series. I'd be shocked to see them send Drouin anywhere in the East, particularly to a contender.

He'll end up in the west for sure and likely to a team with good defensive prospects and something that can help Tampa now.

Hickey+Hudler+ for drouin

I'm trying to figure out what Tampa would want or need. A centre maybe?

I would bet Galchynuk (spelling!) for Drouin. Book it

Didn't they send St Louis to NYR though? Or is that situation a bit different?

Bit different because St. Louis only wanted to go to New York and had a full NTC.

If Treliving and Burke believe this team's time of drafting in the top 5 is definitely closed, I think you continue to be bold and make a big deal for Drouin. Otherwise, we won't really have a chance to acquire that level of talent in that age range again. I think Tampa is in a spot where they want pieces for the future and a cup run this season, and I think the Flames are in a good spot to deliver on both of those.

Untouchables:
Bennett
Gaudreau
Monahan
Brodie
Giordano
Hamilton
Kylington
Andersson
Hickey
Gillies

Which then really just leaves us open to leverage one or two of our expiring deals (Jiri? Russell?), our 1st round pick this year, and one of our former first round picks (Poirier, Klimchuk) - or possibly involve Backlund.

I am it sure I would make any prospect untouchable as Drouin fills a huge need with this core group. Ultimately if the Flames have a first line that consists of Gaudreau-Bennett and then Drouin-Monahan that is the foundation of 2 possible first lines with players aged 19, 20, 21, 22. That matches well with having a top 25 year old Dman and a 22 year old with number 1 potential.

I think Drouin has potential to make this trade look similar to the Seguin deal.
