I always hear the talk that Kelly is going to end up in Tennessee. But Mariota played his last two years under a different coach, and to me it looks like Chip Kelly can not game plan at the NFL level. I think the Titans would make a big mistake in hiring Kelly. Mariota is more than good enough to respond to proper NFL level coaching.
I wonder who Philly will go after now. That roster is a bit of a mess right now, but it's a marquee type job in a big time hype market. Plus that Division is wide open where any team can literally win it any year.

Chip Kelly, the coach, is a very good coach. He went 20-12 in two years with Nick Foles, Mike Vick and Mark Sanchez as his QB. Chip Kelly, the talent evaluator/personnel man, was a clear debacle. He apparently does not want to go back to college and wants an NFL job. So obviously Tennessee is there, but I'd be looking at Cleveland too maybe.
As for the Eagles...what a disaster. They pretty much have to blow it up and start over now. Not sure how they'll attract a decent candidate there. Could be a rough few years ahead for them.

my guess is they gave him the option of losing control over play personnel and he said no, so they fired him
a few big college jobs are open, could also see another NFL team giving him a chance

he's proven himself to be a terrible GM, but jury is still out on him as a coach

Yeah I thought they'd give him at least one more year, considering how much they've invested in him - including personnel. I get the desire to do something given how it played out, but they've already gone pretty far down that road to pull the plug after (less than) one season.

If Kelly is really wanting to stay in the NFL, he should really look at being an OC, but he probably wouldn't be willing to do that. Heck this is the league that gave Rex Ryan another Head coaching job, so he will probably end up somewhere like the Titans, Dolphins or Browns.

Once he got his team able to execute his system the league had a tough time figuring out how to stop it, sort of like RG3 and Colin Kaepernick.

After a slow start in 2013 where they went 1-3, likely the time it took for his players to get used to his methods they had a nice run from week 5 of that season until week 14 of last season. They were 18-6. But since that they're 7-12, and have been beat down pretty bad a few times here in the last 7 games.

Maybe Lurie is seeing the trend and wants to step in and stop things before they let it go too far. The NFL always figures out how to adjust to unconventional methods, and it's difficult to continue to innovate new tricks to keep ahead of the curve. Looks like his bet is that he feels Kelly won't be able to adapt and re-innovate a new way to surprise the league, or that his leadership skills just don't work with professional players.

Haha, so it sounds like the Eagles are going back to having Howie Roseman in charge of personnel decisions. What a gongshow. Are we the Browns, yet?

I'd like them to go after McDermott, but I don't see them waiting that long to get permission to speak with him. Same problem with McDaniels most likely.

Then there's this:

Geoff Mosher @GeoffMosherNFL 2m2 minutes ago
Jeff says maybe some in house candidates for HC. Some will think Shurmur. I wonder if he means Duce. Jeff has always been big fan of Duce.

Duce would be the complete opposite of Kelly, because he's a complete player's coach but I'd be very concerned with his lack of coaching experience.

I think Gruden is pretty overrated, to be honest. Yeah, the guy has a Super Bowl with players he inherited from Tony Dungy, but his teams were pretty up and down. Maybe that had more to do with the Glazers, but I don't think the guy is slamdunk by any means.

He did pretty well in Oakland too. No one is a slam dunk.

The Eagles are a big rebuild, no shot Gruden has any interest in that (considering he never did in Tampa). More than likely they'll settle for a coordinator.

Not saying the guy's a bum, but his career winning percentage is .540, which is pretty middle of the pack. Plus, there's a pretty sizable sample size of retreads who have failed to find similar success in subsequent coaching stops. It's the same reason I wouldn't be thrilled about the Eagles going after Sean Payton.

EDIT: Also agree with Senator Clay Davis. The Eagles are a mess right now.

The Eagles have some good players that they can build around, but they really need to fix the O-line, secondary and get a QB. Hopefully they don't turn into the Browns. That would suck.

Beyond Fletcher Cox and Jordan Hicks there really isn't a player that I would say is crucial to future success. When your building blocks are an inside lineman and linebacker, it's not really going to attract the best candidates. Add on to that the fact that your first round pick is likely going to be outside of the top-10, and you have no second rick, and it just gets uglier.

If I were going to rank the upcoming coaching vacancies I'd probably go:
 Colts
 Titans
 Giants
 Lions
 Chargers
 Dolphins
 Eagles
 Niners
 Browns
