The industry resource, which is often the first to know of when a release date is planned, has listed April 5 as the Star Wars date, which is the first we've heard of that date, but which lines up with the general "Spring 2016" that has been listed on digital pre-orders through Vudu and iTunes.
The site suggests that the film, which is in its second weekend at the box office, will arrive in two versions: A single-disc Blu-ray and a two-disc 3D Blu-ray combo pack which will also include a digital copy.
I personally wouldn't buy the initial Bluray release, there will probably be an extended release just before Christmas, I seem to recall reading that JJ had to cut something like 25 minutes off the theatrical release.
I see people remark that the plot was hidden or not fully explained, but personally that's awsome. It's much better when plotlines are unpredictable and motivations are kept secret for the future. I like not knowing everything.

Or buy both LOL

It will likely be on Netflix Canada (and only Canada -- suck it, rest of the world) right around the same time it comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray, so if the Blu-Ray doesn't have a lot of special content, you'll still be able to watch the movie at home around that time.

Several months later IIRC.
Netflix's deal with Disney, which starts in 2016, will allow them to air Disney properties 8 months after theatrical release. So around August on Netflix Canada.
Watched it last night. My favourite part for pure authenticity was when my seat kept getting kicked by the kid behind me. About 20 or more times. No, really, that really added to the special effects as they were well timed kicks right close to my head so that I could feel the shock of a laser hitting something, or when a truly moving line was delivered.
Anyway I don't like how they basically just re-made Episode IV, but at the end of the day it was a good movie. I can't add more that's already been added but I sincerely hope Rey is in no way related to any of the existing characters and that they just have her as she is, a poor homely girl who happens to have the force within her. As my brother said last night, the relationship stuff is starting to get a little Maury Povich-esque.
I thought Kylo Ren was excellent. I agree with CC's description. I thought the character was well acted and was a very cool blend of conflict within a person. And I loved the voice.
Overall the acting was great. The story was weak or underexplained. i hope that they improve story telling and connecting the dots in the follow up films. The scenes were very cool looking, I'd give it a B or B+ kinda thing.

I'm not going to buy anything until the 3 movie set comes out for the whole trilogy. I'll be a dark side pirate until then
Yeah, it's a bit odd. The whole "Sith Lord with a boo boo" is ridiculous. Did he miss the multiple instances of exposition when it came to how powerful Chewie's rifle was? Several moments in the film distinctively mention that Chewbacca's rifle is hardcore, and Kylo Ren took a shot from it, it blew clean through him. It wasn't a boo boo it was a potentially fatal shot. Ren was fighting mortally injured.
Not to mention Finn wounded Kylo Ren in their short lightsabre skirmish before Kylo Ren and Rey dueled.

I'll be honest with myself and know in advance that I'll buy every release and re-release of this movie, just like I have with the other Star Wars movies.

Or your standards are just way higher than mine which, frankly, is entirely probable.

Just saw it again, definitely better the second time when you can focus more on the story details. Anyone else wondering how maz ended up with Luke's old lightsaber? She said it was anakin's and then Luke's, if that's the case would it not be the one he lost on cloud city when Vader cuts off his hand?

So some filmmakers with a pile of cash took the 20 coolest things about the first Star Wars movie and reskinned it with modern production values and a better cast. Which made for a pretty good movie. But now I'm wondering what they plan for the next one. Presumably some rebels defend and get chased out of a base, while Han and Leia's daughter learns the force. Arms get chopped off, an identity is revealed, and someone is captured after a betrayal. Calling it now.

I laughed at how many things were taken from the now long dead EU
Starkiller, which was the original name for Luke and then later the code name for Vader's secret apprentice.
Ben Solo, in the EU Luke's son was Ben.
Solo child goes evil, in the EU Jacen Solo goes bad and becomes Darth Caedus.
Oh and Luke's lightsabre and his amputated hand are recovered by the Empire on Bespin. Years later the Empire clones Luke Skywalker, but in the EU the naming convention is to add extra letters to a clones name.
So Jorus C'baoth becomes Joruus C'Baoth
Luke Skywalker became Luuke Skywalker. Hopefully they didn't make 20 clones of Luke because Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke Skywalker would take too long to say.

Haha no, you're right I definitely did not know what it meant. I thought it meant a poor person / scavenger type of thing. My bad. Oh and yeah, she is a babe.

Wow, hot take. Someone inform the internet you've cracked the case. We're through the looking glass here, people.

Forgot I shouldn't post about a geek movie unless I've spent at least 15 hours already reading internet posts about said movie to become familiar with the current state of theory-wank.

The "Calling it now" part was geekier than anything else posted in this thread.
