Bacardi (see sig below) and coke. Lately I've been mixing my rum with Coke Zero and a splash of lime.

Oh Bacardi, how I love you so................

Ah, yes--the "Cuba Libra." I love that drink. Perfect after mowing the lawn (which I'm about to go and do). Thanks for the tip, KFF!

Mmm, rum and coke. Cannot go wrong with that, at all. Not at all. My favourite drink.

I just finished off a micky (not literally right now, but earlier in the week) of Appleton's Rum straight from Jamica. Now THAT was good...

As for the brand names, I am in favour of the Bacardi as well. Does anyone actually like Lambs rum? Blech . Well ok, my response maybe isn't that strong to it....but its got such a bitter (? - not sure if that is the right word or not for it) aftertaste. Doesn't really make it that appealing.

Always been a fan of Grasshopper or Pilsner.

For hard bar, I go with Grey Goose Vodka straight up with ice or Gibson's Rye with water, ice and a splash of coke.

I'm big on the Whiskey and Amaretto sours.

Also enjoy fine Scotch. Brought some of the Classic Malts back from Scotland when I was there this spring.

Any high quality spirit, rum included, will taste amazing with a splash of cold water pressing it.

Can't stand most so-called rye whiskeys, although I like the Alberta Distilleries one, which actually has a high rye content, unlike most Canadian rye whiskeys. Scotch is definitely my favorite whiskey, particularly Talisker or Oban. Any of the island scotches are pretty good. Right now I've got a bottle of a Cape Breton scotch-style whiskey. It's a little on the mild side, very smooth.
I also enjoy a quality bourbon (not Jack Daniels... Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, or Knob Creek are all much better), either straight up, or with a stick of cinnamon and a touch of maple sugar.

I have yet to try the Amaretto sours. I've got history with Whiskey Sours, I can't seem to order or make anything else.

Looking at recipes for it though, it doesn't seem to call for a lot of Amaretto...

Just water? Hmmm. Not sure if I would like that. I'll try it though, my brother gave me a lot of rum so I can't let it go to waste.

Tangle Ridge rye is a personal favorite of mine. I also like Crown, but Tangle is smoother. Mix that up with some Coke Zero, and I'm good to go!
As for scotch, it needs to be a high quality single malt. The best I've had so far is called GlenTurret - the wife brought some 12, 15 and 18 year old 2oz samples back from Scotland, but I've yet to find it here in Calgary.

I prefer a darker, richer rum. I would heavily reccomend Hercules, if you wanted to try something different.

I gotta go with vodka and orange juice. Specifically with shmirnoff vodka - Real Russian vodka (ex. Stoli) makes me so sick, and with real orange juice, I find that this probably helps hydrate and therefor minimizes hang-overs the next day plus it tastes better than the sugary fake juice.

Amaretto and Coke is also high on the list.

On the Red Mile, nothing beats a slurpee spiked with alcohol of choice. Plus, since the alcohol melts the slurpee, by the time you finish it, there's always another Macs or Sev right there.

My current "Yes, I'm Drinking A Girlie Drink... You Want To Make Something Of It?" drink is 3 parts Malibu, 2 parts pineapple juice, 1 part diet sprite and a splash of Grenadine. Good stuff. As far as I'm concerned, there's no point in drinking anything that doesn't taste good.

No worries. If you like it, then that is the only person who matters.

I haven't enjoyed screwdrivers since I made a mess of myself with Polar Ice. Damn black bottle - the more you drink, the less you can judge how much is left.

Anyone know a place in town to get a good Mojito? I loved them in Cuba, and haven't found many places that even know what one is, and NO place that makes one that tastes like the ones in Cuba.

I don't drink too regularly but when I do I drink beer. Kokanee or Big Rock products, and occasionally pilsner because I like the can design.

I've found it too easy to get carried away drinking hard liquor. It's pretty tough for me to get a hangover drinking beer. I can drink 2 6-packs in a night and not act like a moron or forget anything.
