5X5 to Cammi instead of signing Raymond would've made this PP better, but maybe he wasn't signing here for that.

Pretty sure the reports were that we offered Cammalleri more than what he got in New Jersey.

Really? But with less term or something? That would make me sad.

I don't think that's correct. I remember the reports saying the Flames weren't willing to offer anything close to what New Jersey did.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this, but Treliving said:

“We tried, I can honestly say,” Treliving said about trying to re-sign the Calgary club’s leading marksman last season.

“The credit goes to our ownership. They made a number of significant proposals at varied terms, varied dollar amounts … I can assure our fans that every effort was made to bring Mike back.

“This is not a situation where we weren’t prepared, where we didn’t offer what I consider significant dollars. In some cases, on an annual basis, it was more than competitive.”

Not sure if that means we offered more after all, but sounds like it might have been? We might not have been willing to offer the 5 years New Jersey did.

I think the Flames offered a higher cap hit, but Treliving wasn't willing to go longer than 3 years. Cammalleri wanted 5 years, so he took a little less per year to get it.

As we saw with Engelland, Treliving was willing to pay more to get the shorter term. My guess is that the Flames' offer maxxed out at $6M x 3 years, but Cammalleri wanted the term, so he signed with New Jersey.

Pretty meh in terms of entertainment.

Blues played the trap and rope a dope after getting up 2-0. Calgary consistently made one to many passes all game.
Really didn't expect Calgary to win 8 in a row because they faced the Blues. Any other team I would of thought differently but the Blues had what 2 shutouts against us last year?

On a side note why where so many people blacked out due to regional restrictions? I saw many posters from B.C being blacked out but I have never exeperienced this.

I'd argue they are playing exactly how they did last year. Which is the problem.

Too predictable now. Lack of creativity on there part.

I may be one of Ferland's biggest fans but I was really disappointed in his game tonight. Against a big team like the Blues who were clearly looking to push and bully the Flames around, Ferland really needed to step up the physical play. He threw a couple of hits but really wasn't that impactful.

I think I also saw a shift where Backes was trying to get him to fight, but Ferland wouldn't go. With how Backes was throwing his weight around on the ice, that's a fight Ferland has to take. And if Backes wasn't offering, then it should be Ferland to make the invitation.

Ferland really needs to drop the gloves more and earn his time and space. He's starting to look like Zach Kassian out there. Hartley needs to light a fire under his ass.

Totally agree, Ferland will be serving burgers soon if he doesn't start taking on the odd fight. Personally I think in order for him to survive in the NHL he needs to turn into a real arsehole with cheapshots/attacks on star players or he's toast in this league.

Yes. He endeared himself last year by getting under the skin of Calgary's number 1 rival.

Now we see rare flashes of the shadow of that adrenaline driven impact player

Somebody needs to let guys like Ferland and Jooris etc know that the whole reason guys stick in the NHL and establish careers is delivering against their role on a consistent basis
